| mcommini's Full Review: Walt Disney World Epcot - Japan |
The Japanese section of Epcot's showcase of nations has a beautifully constructed temple to greet you. While I don't hold with Buddhism, the architecture is breathtaking. Definitely make this a stop on your itinerary!
My husband climbed the TALL flight of steps to the fine restaurant while I sat down to rest my tootsies. He said it smelled wonderful and the menu looked appealing. Since we had already eaten in Italy (see review) and Mexico (see review), we weren't actually considering going in on this visit. He just wanted to see what it was like.
If you've read my other reviews of Epcot's various nations, you already can guess that we stopped in the gift shop! I saw many toys for children through the windows, so I was hoping to find something suitable for our little ones, who were home with their grandparents while we had a short but delightful day off.
There were a few traditional little Japanese games and toys, and some books on origami (paper art), and some cookbooks that made my mouth water. But most of the store was jammed with Pokemon memorabilia, and you can guess too that this was the only store jammed with countless kids and flustered parents and salespeople! We believe that the Pokemon craze encourages gambling, so we keep those toys away from our boys. So, the store really did not hold our interest long and we moved on to the next section of Epcot's showcase.
