| blanders76's Full Review: Walt Disney World Epcot - Japan |
Epcot Center is a wonderful place to try new things and experience other cultures, and since most of us will never be able to travel all the way to Japan, it's great to get a small taste of what the country's like at the Japanese pavillion.
The architecture here is beautiful, and you should make sure to browse through the Japanese department store. The store has lots of great decorative items, as well as kimono, bonsai trees and interesting Japanese candy and snacks (as a kid, my brother and I used to stock up on Japanese treats whenever we went to Epcot).
The pavillion also has great restaurants. I've dined in two of them: the bar where you sit at a counter on diner-style stools and the grill where they cook the food at your table. The counter bar is a great place to try sushi if you've never had it before, but what I really like is the restaurant where the chef grills the food at your table. You can choose from beef, chicken or seafood and the meal is also served with rice and vegetables and delicious sauces. The food is excellent, but the best part about this restaurant is the chef. The cooks put on a great show, chopping wildly and tossing the food around the grill with expert skill. Despite the price, I highly recommend stopping by this restaurant for a meal. It's usually possible to get in without making a reservation, but just to be on the safe side, I recommend reserving "preferred seating" early in the day.
