| jetbluefan1's Full Review: Peter Pan's Flight |
From the 1953 animated film Peter Pan, an attraction inspired by the phenomenal, popular movie awaits you at Disneys Magic Kingdom, Orlando. Located in the kiddy area of the park, your kid will want to go on it over, and over, and over, and over.....
Minutes pass as the sun hits noon...youre still not on the ride! Well, this may happen as the line can last up to 30 minutes. The bad part of that is that you are outside in the hot weather while waiting. Of course, you are under a shaded part since the line is under a canopy connected to the building in which the attraction takes place.
However, you can use a FastPass which brings you to the front of the line. Just take your Disney ticket which you used to enter the park, and place it in the machine in front of the attraction. It will print out a ticket with certain times on it. Return between those times with the ticket, and then youll be able to go in front of the line.
The Attraction
Apparently, we all have to return to Never Land to go on the ride, and you can do this by climbing aboard fake, flying ships that seat two people. These flying ships take you through a reenactment of Never Land. I would recommend that you hold onto your child so they dont fall out of the ships. For extra safety, there is a lap bar.
The ships come in all different colors and Im sure your child may fight for his or her favorite color. However, when boarding the ships, you have to go on the next available one. The Disney staff may seem caring and friendly, but they dont give a giraffe what color ship your child wants.
After boarding the ship, youre all ready to visit Never Land, the world in which Peter Pan takes place. When visiting the world, you get to see moving statues of Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Wendy, Michael, John, Mr. Smee, and of course, Captain Hook - the evil pirate in the story who tries to kill Peter Pan.
The attraction takes place in the order of which the story takes place. You get to see the beginning where Wendy arrives in Never Land. Soon, you see Captain Hook giving orders to his crew members to set off canons to bomb Peter Pan and his friends. At one point you go high up in the air overlooking Never Land when trying to escape from Captain Hook.
The moving statues of the characters say things. At one point, you hear Captain Hook screaming when an alligator tries to eat him toward the end of the attraction. At this point, you know that Peter Pan wins against Captain Hook and the attraction is over.
My Thoughts
I know kids will really enjoy the ride because they get to go through a story and actually see the characters move and make noises. My little cousins comment that they like it when Captain Hook gets eaten by the alligator. Theyve always dragged me on the ride, but Ive always enjoyed it and think that any little kid would enjoy it.
There are no fast movements, no turns, nothing goes upside down - not even close. Its a slow moving ride that moves very smoothly and is very relaxing. Of course, that crying baby over there really doesnt help. That brings up another point - toddlers may be scared since the attraction is in the dark with only the characters visible, and Captain Hook may look a bit scary to them.
It is worth your time, however, to go on Peter Pans Flight. It is great for relaxing before going on something like Space Mountain, or good to calm you down after youve gone of Space Mountain. Your child will like it, you will like it, but Im guessing those crying babies arent enjoying it.
