Disney World is a magical land full of excitement, adventure, and mystery. Disney World is large, gigantic, perhaps even as big as the world! Disney World is a future era that has come to life! Disney World is Where Dreams Come True!
100 Years Of Magic
Disney World was named after a popular man: Walt Disney. 100 years ago he was born, and introduced the world to a new dream, passion, and hobby...to let your imagination come to life! This all started with coming up with a mascot who is now known as Mickey Mouse. This brought Walt Disney to think big and to create magical parks in an area that wasnt already to congested. He chose Orlando, Florida which is a city that was not well known back then. Today, the name is recognized all over the world! He started building theme parks to impress. He named the theme parks Epcot, MGM Studios, and of course, the most popular and most Disney of all, Magic Kingdom.
The current Disney management decided to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Disneyworld with a giant parade down Main Street at Magic Kingdom, special vacation packages, and a huge blue Mickey Wizard hat in the middle of MGM Studios to show Disneys wild imagination and creativity.
Studios & Movies
Disneyworld isnt just about rides and attractions. It is also about movies and animation. Some of the most famous animated movies that Disney has made are Fantasia, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin, Pochahontas, Snow White, Toy Story and Tarzan. These movies are along the most popular animated movies in the world! I personally like Beauty and the Beast the most.
Movies that have actual actors and actresses that Disney has made includes Twilight Zone, Star Wars, Delta, Mighty Joe Young, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, and Honey We Shrunk Ourselves. My favorite one of these movies is the Twilight Zone because of imagination and an excellent plot. Some of these movies aren't actually Disney movies. They actually are under an agreement with ABC and WB to use these movies as attractions at their parks.
You can find how these movies were made at MGM Studios which is one of the Disneyword theme parks. To see how these movies were made, you can take the Backlot Tour for movies that are not animated. To see how animated movies were made, you can take the Magic of Disney Animation tour. These tours are very interesting because it is so cool to see how some of the most popular movies were made, and how simply they were made. It will give you a whole different look at the backstage of movies.
Attractions Related To Movies
Many of the rides and attractions at Disneyworld are related to certain movies. This helps the rides have a theme and it is exciting when you can relate a ride to a well-known movie.
Twilight Zone, Tower of Terror at MGM Studios was made after the movie The Twilight Zone. Here, you go in an elevator and sit down while being dropped from 13 levels up high in the Hollywood Tower Hotel.
Honey I Shrunk the Audience which is at Epcot is a sit-down attraction which was made after the movie Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Honey We Shrunk Ourselves. In the 700-seater auditorium, the big-screen television tells a story about a scientist who shrinks the audience. Everything seems to become larger like a snake, dog, and mice!
Star Tours which is at MGM Studios comes after the movie Star Wars. The virtual reality ride in a moving theater and you get to go to the Moon of Endor on the Endor Express. There is the theme song from Star Tours and the style of the way the ride was designed reminds me of the Star Wars movie set.
Snow Whites Scary Adventures which is at Magic Kingdom comes from the movie Snow White. You get to go through the Snow White story and see the evil witch who tries to make Snow White eat the poisonous apple. Mirror, mirror on the wall, whos the fairest of them all? This attractions may be a bit scary for smaller children, but they should be all right when with an adult.
Peter Pans Flight which is at Magic Kingdom is where you go through an imaginary Neverland of Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Wendy, and Captain Hook. You are on some type of flying boat and get to see Captain Hook trying to capture Peter Pan, but in the end, Captain Hook is eaten by an alligator.
Other Attractions
Rock n Roller Coaster at MGM Studios is one of my favorites. Here, you ride in a stretch limo through a roller coaster track on your way to the Aerosmith concert. There are sharp turns, loops, and twists! It is well themed as you think you are driving in the city yet at a faster speed of up to 70 M.P.H!
The Haunted Mansion is an attraction at Magic Kingdom thats a bit spooky and creepy yet makes you gaze in awe. There are fake ghosts and goblins out to get you! Make sure to step in the dead-center of the entrance hall to enter the world of 999 ghosts...theres always room for one more!
Test Track at Epcot is one of the most entertaining and modern rides at Disneyworld. You sit in a car and go through all the pre-tests a regular GM car goes through before being sold to the consumer. This includes the speed test, anti-lock brake test, heat test and freeze test. B-r-r-r-r.
Universe of Energy at Epcot is a 37 minute attraction full of imagination, information, and creativity. You get to travel back to the time of the dinosaurs with Ellen DeGeneres and Bill-Nye the Science Guy. This all starts off when Ellen falls asleep watching Jeopardy and dreams that the topic of Jeopardy is energy. Here, Ellen learns about all different types of energy and why it is so important.
Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom is one of the most popular attractions. You supposedly blast off into space in a rocket. It is a roller coaster ride in the dark which is at a high speed. There are turns, dips, and no loops. The ride is intense and is full of imagination...it is also the coolest ride at any of the Disney parks.
Blizzard Beach Water-Park
This park is one of the most advanced water-parks in the world. It is themed after a ski resort, and in the middle is a huge mountain where you ski down...wink-wink. Instead of skiing down, several water slides take you to the bottom.
In the middle of the mountain is the largest water slide that gives you a wedgie when you get off. It is over a 100 ft. drop and it feels like youre going to fall off the side when going down at such an intense speed. I really though that I was going to go over the edge - thats how scared I was.
Theres also this Teamboat Springs that seats about six people in each raft. Here, the raft goes from one side of the hill to the other and youll get a little wet. The turns are intense on the wide water slide and sometimes the raft climbs the walls of the slide when making a sharp turn.
To get to the top of the mountain, you can either take the stairs of the ski lift near the entrance.
Other Things To Do
Unfortunately, I havent seen everything having to do with Disneyworld, and the parts that I have seen are more than enough for my imagination. However, if you are interested in more about Disneyworld, here are some places to visit that I soon wish to go to:
~ Disneys Animal Kingdom (theme-park)
~ Disneys Typhoon Lagoon (water-park)
~ Disneys Wide World of Sports
~ Downtown Disney West Side
~ Downtown Disney Pleasure Island
~ Downtown Disney Marketplace
~ Disney Cruise Line (which makes a stop at Disneys private Caribbean island called Castaway Cay)
There are also many resorts that Disney owns that are convenient to Disneyworld such as Animal Kingdom Lodge, Grand Floridian, Contemporary Resort, Fort Wilderness, Disney Institute, Wilderness Lodge, Caribbean Beach, Old Key West, Port Orleans, Board Walk Inn, Yacht & Beach Club, Polynesian, Coronado Springs, All-Star and Disneys Pop Century Resort.
Overall Thoughts
Disneyworld is a perfect place to spend a vacation! It is located near Orlando, Florida, and is always up to something new. Staff is usually friendly, and there are so many things to do! The parks are great, the rides are great, the prices are great...everythings great! The resort grounds seemed nice when I saw them from a slight glimpse when going to the parks. It is amazing how Disney became so big and successful. It is such a wonderful place to spend a vacation when you have the time and money...but believe me, its worth it!
