Unilever Suave Professionals Color Care Conditioner Black Raspberry + White Tea 12.6 fl oz

Like a black raspberry -- little bit of tart with the sweet

Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros:Long-lasting scent; color doesn't fade any faster than with basic; somewhat helps with frizz
Cons:not better than basic; thick hair requires more; hair doesn't feel silky or without tangles
The Bottom Line: Mediocre results in the application and rinse, but does somewhat help with after shower frizz.
It stands to reason that if there is a conditioner available to match the shampoo of your choosing, it's likely you're going to purchase it. This especially holds true when the scent is one that would clash with others. After having decided on the shampoo first, grabbing Suave Professionals Black Raspberry White Tea Color Care Conditioner was a no-brainer.

Just as with the matching shampoo, I was pleased to find the natural ingredients being listed on the bottle really were in there, along with lavender, chamomile, lemongrass and aloe. All of these are known for their different healthy, nourishing qualities, and I was surprised to find so many in one product.
While the simple flip-top, sage green bottle, offset slightly by berry-colored accents, isn't one a man would shy away from, the smell is. Unlike the perfume-y berry of the shampoo, the conditioner is tempered just a little with an almost powdery scent. I don't mind the shampoo at all, but I think I prefer the softness of the conditioner. Although a little different, they mesh beautifully together for a long-lasting smell. As I mentioned in the shampoo review, taking my hair out of a ponytail, and even the following day having rain dampen it, made the scent come back to life. When I choose a shampoo and conditioner set based partly on liking how they smell, I couldn't be happier to find that it lasts so beautifully.
I have to use a little bit more than I normally would because it just doesn't want to go as far as other conditioners I've used. I also leave it in longer as I finish my shower to give it a little more time to work. I have found that, although it has the "professional" tag in its title, so costs at least a dollar more, it isn't any better than a basic Suave conditioner. I like when I can run my fingers through my hair as I'm applying the product and working it through. Even better is having it feel silky soft and smooth under the rinse water. I don't get either of those with the Suave Professionals Black Raspberry White Tea Conditioner. That's really not a great thing when the shampoo left me knowing a conditioning was going to be necessary. I'm not saying that this was horrible or didn't work at all, it just wasn't as satisfying as I'd hoped.
Thankfully, the mediocrity of it doesn't hold through to the final results. My hair has a natural wave and is very thick, which leads to fluff and frizz if not tamed by conditioner or flat-ironed. With this, I was almost able to walk out the door and go anywhere . . . almost. I might make a quick trip to town, but I'm not going to go to work or out on the town without breaking out the flat iron first. It's just not that good.
Being of the color care line, this is also supposed to protect hair color as well as Aveda Color Conserve. I can't really make the comparison since I've never used an Aveda product, but I can say that while my hair didn't fade any more quickly than with other conditioners, it also didn't fade any less. If that's the result I'm going to get, I'd rather do it with a bottle that runs around $3.00 than one that's $16.00.
I guess you could say that the Suave Professionals Black Raspberry White Tea Color Care Conditioner is just like a real black raspberry -- there's a little bit of tart with the sweet. The scent is great and long-lasting, color doesn't fade any faster than with a basic Suave conditioner, and it helps somewhat with my frizz issue, but it's not really worth the extra price. Plus, when my daughter's hair is just like mine, a 12.6 ounce bottle doesn't go far. We usually require two bottles of conditioner to go with one bottle of the shampoo. Good thing it also comes in 28 ounces.
