Pros: Clean, great equipment, well lit, good variety of classes, nationwide access
Cons: High pressure sales staff, can get crowded at peak times
The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend this club. Be patient and wait for the price package that suits your needs.

I recently joined 24 Hour Fitness in Portland, OR, at the Mall 205 location. The club is fantastic! It is clean, well lit, has plenty of equipment, basketball court, pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room & pro shop. There is plenty of parking, even at peak times. It can get crowded at peak times (4-6 p.m.) but for the most part you are still able to use equipment without waiting. There seems to be a good mix of patrons and most seem to be there to workout, rather than be seen.
If you've read a lot of other reviews, you know the sales staff can put quite a bit of pressure on you to sign up before you leave the club. If you are comfortable dealing with this, then you can use it to your advantage and get the best deal possible. I used another club's offer (Ballys) as leverage to get a better deal. I ended up paying $607 for three years, with a lifetime $99 annual renewal. They were also offering a package of $703 for three years with a lifetime $49 annual renewal, which is obviously a better long term deal.
I dealt with a couple of different sales staff at different locations. They all had one thing in common. They constantly advised me to take advantage of the "specials" which were only available for a "limited" time. Of course this is complete lie. The specials are basically the same prices from month to month, with little difference. The absolute best long term deal I have seen was $900 for three years with a lifetime $20 annual renewal. They only seem to offer this a couple of times per year.
Hope this helps!
