Pros: Great facility and good range of equipment
Cons: Parking costs $1.50, no paper towels. Sales people are underhanded.
The Bottom Line: I would have joined Gold's gym in Hollywood except the membership fees were really high and it's all guys if you know what I mean.

My brother is a member of the Irvine 24hr and an acquaintance and friend gave that particular gym high marks. I decided to check it out and the first thing that I ran into was that I needed to park in the garage just to access the facility. Yes you can try and park on the street but in all reality, public parking in that area of Hollywood is nearly impossible to come across. Like most people, I was put through the paces with the tour and sales pitches. The facilities were really nice except there are no paper towels or spray bottles to wipe down the benches or cardio equipment.
I was attempting to purchase a 3 yr deal similar to what my brother got which was $549 for 3 yrs but was denied. Instead they tried to sell me on a 3yr plan that included 4 sessions of training(a $260 value) for $799. I told the salesman that I didn't need the training and that if they would just allow me to waive the training sessions I would sign up right there. No dice. The guy said that the sessions were part of the plan. Long story short, I suck it up and signed up with them 3yrs $681, $99 initiation fee, $79 processing and $199 yearly renewal but find out that the guy pulled a bait and switch on me right after I signed my credit card receipts. I thought the plan I was signing still had the lame training sessions included but it didn't so in essence I was paying more for less. So My brother ends up going to his 24hr location the next day and signs me up for 3yrs $599, $49 yearly renewal and no initiation and $49 processing. I go back that same day and cancel the initial plan and show the salesman that plan I got. It set the place on fire. The reps were passing it all around and the manager stated that he was going to send a complaint to that gym for undercutting them. Anyways, the bottom line with 24hr is that their policy are inconsistent and the staff here is shady.
