| teriarog's Full Review: Gold's Gym |
I had a contract with gold's gym beginning in 2002. It was for two years which I wasn't excited about but I went with it anyway because they told me I can pay out of my contract at $100 for the first year and $50 for the second year. Come time for me to end my membership I show up ready to pay out. They tell me I can't pay out and that I have to have a doctor's medical excuse or move 50 miles away from the facility. I was not told either of these reasons when I first signed on. I try to talk to the managers and so forth and they all agree these are the only ways to get out of my contract. At this point they started billing me for a fee since I tried to get out of the contract. After this fee doubles I decide to pay so I can finally be done with these people. This gym was in Maryland and I moved way more than 50 miles away to Jersey City and I think the relationship is over. Then I saw a deduction from my account to Golds Gym. I call them and try to figure why deductions are being made when I have ended my membership and the lady tells me, "Oh, no, you have to send a fax request to end your membership." By this time it's the fall of 2004. We've been fighting for a year at this point. I highly recommend people stay far away from Gold's Gym, those people are crooks and thieves.
