BEWARE OF GOLD'S SALES PRACTICES, THEY ARE DECEPTIVE.
I joined Gold's 6 months ago because it was close to my house. The facility (in Cincinnati) is clean and new, and the equipment is in pretty good condition (perfect except the dumbbells are starting to get chipped). There is even a theater in which you can watch a movie while running on a treadmill (which I love).
However, when I joined, I was cajoled into agreeing to "try" a locker. I did not read the 5 page contract (my fault) and found out later that i had signed up for a 12-month contract for the locker. It also took Gold's 3 months to give me a locker. I called and asked very nicely if there was any way i could get credit for three months of payments on a locker i didn't have access to. I also asked if I could roll my locker contract into a longer gym membership or something - i won't use the locker. I didn't think it'd work, but i gave it a try. I have never had a worse customer service experience in my life than my experience with Gold's. I was brow beaten and insulted by the Gold's representative. I was absolutely furious by the time i got off the phone. I would encourage you to avoid Gold's. If you have good reasons to join Gold's, be very very careful what you sign up for. The sales people will make it sound very casual, but there's no escaping a Gold's contract.
