Don't let them get your savings account or bank account. Without bills or reminders, the ABC Financial Inc. company will start collecting money due. I paid for one year all together, and was expecting to pay monthly afterwards. I had got a new ATM card and they had trouble withdrawing money. I would be happy to start bringing payments in person or writing checks, but I expected to get some sort of notice. I didn't until the first bill was overdue, and I had not given the bank permission to withdraw.
Since then I've researched a lot of complaints, problems and shady practices. I don't understand why they haven't been put out of business. Apparently staff isn't treated well either and they have a lot of turnover at all of their facilities.
Gold's Gym is privately owned. It was acquired by TRT Holdings in 2004 for approximately $158 million dollars. The current chief corporate officers include chairman Terrell T. Philen, president and CEO David Schnabel, and CFO Randy Schultz.
When I asked to speak with a Supervisor I was forwarded to voicemail, and no one ever returned my phone call.
Gold's uses a shady contract to begin with. It states that no verbal agreements count as being part of the contract, and it also states that no one can get out of the year's contract unless they are permanently and totally disabled, or move at least 25 miles away. In either case, proof on paper must be provided. Also, the contract automatically renews at the end of a year. The contract must be voided within 30 days of signing, but the character telling you about it says that it has to be voided 30 days before the first charge date a month into the official membership, and then gives a free trial more than 30 days long. They tell many lies, all in the name of getting a person to sign the contract, and then act like they said nothing.
These people are like a concrete wall. If you have a similar experience, Please: file your complaint with the BBB, AND your state's Attorney General's Office. They need all the complaints
