Pros:Women only, great classes, wonderful personal trainers, good child care
Cons:Not open late on Saturdays and closed on Sundays
The Bottom Line: I love it. I am trying to convince my friends and family to join.
I was a member of Curves until a friend became a personal trainer at Lady of America. I was not seeing any results at Curves, so I joined Lady of America. There was no start up fee and the monthly fee is very inexpensive. They have the 30 minute circuit like Curves, but also have machines, weights, child care, tanning, and classes.
They have many classes there. My favorite class (and most tiring) is kick boxing. Every muscle in your body is worked and self defense is also taught. This class is an hour long and is offered twice a week. They also teach a class with an exercise ball. This class teaches balance and works your abs. This is a great class but you need to have some sort of coordination. This was a 45 minute class. They also have a class that is focused on abs and another focused on legs. These are short, 15 minutes classes. Another class I really like is the total body class. This is an aerobic class. Whew, I was tired after that one! The total body class also lasts an hour.
The machines they have are awesome. There are high tech treadmills which can tell what your heart rate and also tells you where your heart rate should be. There are also bikes and elliptical machines. They have machines that focus on inner legs, outer legs, calves, abs, triceps, biceps, back, chest, and shoulders. Whatever your problem spot is, there is a machine there to fix it! They also have free weights. You can have a personal trainer show you all these machines and explain how to do everything. They are very nice about everything.
The daycare is wonderful. My daughter loves it. She is 13 months old and waves "bye bye" to me when I drop her off in it! They have a t.v. to watch movies on and a seperate area for the babies to sleep. My only problem with it is that they are not open in the evenings on Fridays, but they are just opening and still hiring staff. I don't have any problems dropping her off.
All in all, this is a wonderful place. I was a member of Lifetime Fitness and Lady of America is smaller but better. The staff is friendly and helpful. The price is not outrageous. You get a lot for what little you pay!
