Pros: 1st diet I've ever been on where I didn't have to be hungry to lose weight.
Cons: You really do need to give up the breads & sweets altogether.

| chattycs's Full Review: Atkins Diet |
I will continue this diet for life. Last year I was 250 lbs. and I went to the doctor to get a complete physical before starting the Atkins Diet so that I could monitor my labs every couple of months while staying on the diet.
At the time of starting this diet, I was borderline diabetic, my cholesterol was extremely high and my blood pressure was too! My doctor prescribed, as I knew he would, a low fat diet. Every 2 months I went in to get bloodwork done and my Dr. would say "great job". He never knew and to this day still doesn't know, that I was not on his low fat diet but on the Atkins Diet. Let the numbers talk for themselves.
Last week I had a complete physical, and once again my doctor said, "Whatever you are doing, keep up the good work. You are no longer borderline diabetic, your cholesterol level is exactly where we want it and you no longer need to take the high blood pressure medication."
I do exactly what Dr. Atkins recommends which is as much protein as I want, I try to keep my carb intake to about 40 carbs a day. Plenty of vitamin supplements, plenty of water, at least one salad every day and I treat myself to fruit a couple times a week. And by the way, I have never been more regular and full of energy in my life.
I plan to tell my Dr. next year at my physical what I've been up to and maybe he'll reconsider his unscientific bias when the proof is standing right in front of him, hopefully 50 lbs. lighter than this year.
