Can I Lose WEIGHT fast?

Pros: I lost weight.
Cons: Takes will power and determination. It is torture.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this to any one who doesn't mind toturing themselves for a whole 7 days.

The help I want to look good quick diet. The first time I tried this diet I lost 11 pounds in 7 days. Something I had never ever accomplished before. The second week I tried it, I lost 8 pounds. Then the third time I tried it, I think it was 5 pounds that I lost. Was it worth all the torture? Yes. Did I gain it all back? Yes.
Let me tell you a little about this diet and why I say it was torture and why I will go on it again. First off what is the diet? Here it is.
1 or 2 cans of tomatoes, I used the chopped kind.
6 Lg. green onions
1 Lg. can of beef broth I use the savory beef broth by Swanson's.
1 Pkg. Lipton onion soup mix
2 pounds of carrots I, chop mine finely so I don’t too big of pieces.
1 bunch of celery
1 Lg. head of cabbage
2 cans of green beans
2 green peppers.
You can season with salt, pepper, cilantro, parsley, curry, bullion cubes or hot sauce. I usually add a few bullion cubes and some dill weed to help flavor it up. It is very bland tasting so any thing you add helps. Since the more cabbage soup you eat the more weight you are supposed to lose. If this soup is eaten alone for indefinite periods of time you can suffer from malnutrition. It also makes you pass gas and have to go to the bathroom a lot so make sure you don’t have some one you are trying to impress over while you are on this diet. In other words it makes you have go to the bathroom. My suggestion is that you drink a lot of water so you don’t dehydrate your self.
The only approved drinks for this diet are unsweetened fruit juices, tea, coffee, cranberry juice, and water. Don’t drink more then 2 cups of coffee a day. Remember coffee is also a diuretic so you don’t want to drink too much.
Day 1. You can eat all fruits except bananas. I like to pick up those tubs of melon at the store and munch on it all day long. Eat only soup and fruit all day long. Cantaloupe and watermelon are lower in calories then most fruits so this is something you might take into consideration.
Day 2. This is an all vegetable and soup day. Eat until you are full of all the fresh, raw, or canned veggies and soup that you want. They suggest that you eat green leafy veggies as well, but no dressing! Stay away from dry beans, peas and corn. They are too starchy. At dinner you can have a baked potato and butter. If you have to have something on your veggies to flavor them try a dash of Molly Mc Butter.
Day 3. Eat all the soup, fruit and vegetables that you want to. Do not have a baked potato. You should have lost around 5 pounds by now if you have stuck to the diet.
Day 4. Bananas and skim milk along with soup is the menu for today. You can eat only three bananas though, but you can drink as much skim milk as you want. I usually make myself a banana shake. This was the hardest day for me on this diet. It was very hard not to cheat. If I made it past day 4 I knew I could make it to day 7.
Day 5. Today it is beef, tomatoes and of course more soup. You can have 10 to 20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes or a total of 6 fresh tomatoes. They say to try to drink 6-8 glasses of water on this day to wash away the uric acid in your system.
Day 6. Beef. vegetables, and soup are all you can eat for this day. But you can eat to your hearts content. Stuff yourself if you like. Just no baked potato. Be sure you eat the soup at least once this day.
Day 7. Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice, soup, and vegetables are what is allowed . If you make it this far you will have lost 10-17 pounds. Yippee!! If you make it this far I am very proud of you.
You can eat as much as you want of the foods that are allowed on each day, except day 4. If you are hungry eat! Just make sure you eat the soup, not just the other foods. The secret to losing weight is in the soup.
There are some definite NO NO’s that you can not do while you are on this diet or you will NOT lose weight. NO bread, no alcohol, no carbonated drinks of any kind including diet soft drinks. NO FRIED FOOD either.
If you are not a beef lover then you can eat broiled or baked chicken on the beef days. Just make sure that the skin is taken off of it. Or you can even substitute broiled fish for only one of the beef days.
The diet says that it is a fat burning diet, and that the secret of the diet is that you will burn more calories then you take in. I think personally that it has something to do with the cabbage and they way the body digests it. I think your body burns more calories trying to digest the cabbage more then any thing. That is probably why the more soup you eat the more you are likely to lose.
My hubby was amazed that I went through with it for the whole week. Let alone three separate weeks in total. I started to gag on the soup toward the end of the diet because I was so tired of the taste. He laughed at me numerous times because of the look I would give him when he asked, “soup again, huh?”. Oh well I did it. Now I have had a second child and I have gained all of the weight back. Writing this opinion of the diet is helping me get up the courage to go on the diet again. Of course the weight loss won’t be permanent but if I start to exercise and eat right then it will stay off. Now that spring is here it is easier for me to lose weight because the pressure of the holidays isn’t here. Also fresh fruits and vegetables will be more readily available and strawberries are going to be in season. Mmmm a whole day of strawberries. Kind of sounds tempting, but the soup, yuck I would have to eat the soup with those yummy berries. Maybe if I hold my nose like I did when I was a kid the soup wouldn’t taste so bad to me. I tried it that didn’t work either.
I recommend this diet to any one who wants to lose some weight quickly. But, if you aren’t willing to torture yourself with some bland tasting soup(that might make you gag) then don’t bother you wont make it through the first 4 days. If you find you like the first the first week you are on the diet you probably wont like it the second time you decide to go on it. It takes will power and determination. If you follow the diet exactly you should lose the weight. If you cheat even once your chances of losing weight narrow. The third time I went on the diet I had cheated and also I tried to change things in the diet and I only lost 5 pounds.

Before you start this diet or any other diet...I strongly caution that you talk to your DR. FIRST. This diet was made available to heart patients who had to lose weight fast before surgery. This is not a diet to stay on for long periods of time either, you could become malnourished. Just use caution, please. I don't want anyone to get hurt using this or any other fad diet.
