| nansue_can's Full Review: Carbohydrate Addict's Diet |
i can't say enough about how happy this diet has made me! i have been obese most of my life, and long ago gave up on diets because i could not deal with the idea of denying myself something for the rest of my existance. but then i had my daughter, and at 227 lbs i knew i had to do something. but i wanted it to be a lifestyle change. i wanted to make eating less inportant, and less the center of my life.
i've only been on this diet 5 weeks, but i've already lost 10 lbs, and i haven't been depressed about what i couldn't have, because i could still have it at dinner. And the ridiculous cravings i used to have are pretty much gone! now the only time i feel the desire to eat a whole bag of potato chips is when my daughters teething or my husbands driving me nuts, and even then it passes as quickly as it came.
i don't cheat and don't feel the need to. i still have energy, and i've actually saved money, and it is so simple, which is a must with a toddler around.
There were a few days adjustment to the diet, so i guess it wasn't a complete breeze. The hard part then was that i would eat absolutely every sweet treat i could get my hands on during dinner. But over time, it didn't become so inportant, and i started to want less. i didn't lose weight those first few days. but i enjoyed the way i felt, and i was proud that i wasn't constantly thinking of food. It is also difficult when i visit people, and they offer me things and say "one little bite won't hurt you" or my mother who insists on giving me fruit (fruits cause the cravings for carbs)
i think i eat much healthier now than i ever did, so other than the lack of fruit, which i do have sometimes at dinner, I don't see how this could be an unhealthy diet.
i think this diet best suits the person who constantly nibbles, who eats for no apparant reason, and wants to lose more than a few pounds. i think its a diet that can become a lifestyle change, and an attitude change.
The books are a bit of a dry read sometimes. at first i thought the couple were a bit flaky, but i like the way they take away some of the shame of having a weight problem. they tell their personal stories, and i found her story in particular made me feel they do understand how frustrating it is to be judged by the world as simply weak-willed, when you know deep inside that something is just different about you.
