| markjfeueresq's Full Review: Eat Right 4 Your Type Diet |
TYPE, SHMYPE, if you have more money than common sense, this diet is for you! There is a new diet fad every few months. Like the rest of them, this diet does not work.
THE DIET
Eat for your type is a diet based upon the premise that the human species is evolving. Some of us are less evolved, we have type "O". Our bodies are not geared to the more complex foods that that resulted from civilization such as cheese/dairy. Type "B" and Type "AB" blood is found in bodies that that are more evolved and can digest/process the foods of civilization. If you eat according to your body type, you will lose weight, if not you will gain because your body can't handle the food. It is more involved than this but this is the gist of it. If you want all of the particulars for your Blood Type, get the book or check out the web site for this diet.
EVERY DIET WILL WORK FOR SOME
Because of individual differences, eating "for your blood type" may work with some. For example, if you are allergic to dairy foods, you may lose weight as a type "O" by avoiding dairy products. Food allergies can cause reactions including weight gain.
"A" and "B" types are told to avoid Wheat. Many are allergic to wheat and don't know it, so by eliminating wheat they lose weight and think the book is great. It's not. Type "A" is to avoid Red Meat. Big shmeel. Hey everyone, avoid red meat and wheat products. Gosh, you lost weight. I'm a genius.
IF YOU WANT TO BURN BOOKS, LEAVE TOM SAWYER ALONE, BURN THIS ONE
No offense, there us no convincing scientific evidence that type "B" or "AB" blood types should eat dairy products as part of a weight loss regime. Or, that type "O" should avoid complex foods such as dairy. It is all "horse pucky".
ALLEGORICALLY SPEAKING, IT DOES NOT WORK
I know several people who bought the book and went on the diet but gained weight or did not lose weight. It did not make any sense to me but I tried it. My niece was on it and I am a curious type. Nothing happened for me.
HERE'S THE DEAL
Forget about types. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Cut out most of the fat, sugar, and salt. Eat 4 to 5 fish meals per week, no more than 2 beef meals. When you feel comfortable and satisfied, STOP EATING. Finish the food at a later time or toss it. If you are too heavy the chances are really good that you are not only eating the wrong foods but your quantities are WAY too much.
If you keep track of what you eat you may be shocked at how much you really eat or how many calories you consume. A lot of weight problems are related to a lack of awareness.
HOW TO EAT
It is not only what you eat but how you eat. Eat slowly. Enjoy. Fully masticate each bite, good for digestion, good for the satiety center.
It you eat slowly you find that you feel full long before the plate is empty.
EXERCISE
The best exercise for weight loss is pushing away from the table. The next best is 45 minutes of aerobic/cardio vascular exercises per day. Walking is great. Jog if you like that better. Use a treadmill or stationary bike. DO IT. Regular exercise speeds up you metabolism, reduces health risks such as diabetes, heart disease, etc., and helps all of your circulatory systems.
YOU CAN EAT FOR YOUR BLOOD TYPE, EAT FOR YOUR SHOE SIZE,EAT FOR YOUR HAIR COLOR, OR YOU CAN EAT IT RAW!!!
But my advice is to forget this book, forget the fads, and eat a sound moderate diet, combined with regular exercise. Be patient. Lose weight. And learn to SAY NO to the stuff that puts on pounds. If you think you can eat two potato chips and walk way you are fooling yourself.
If this does not work, check with a doctor about food allergies. Work with a dietician.
Ask yourself why we have so many diet fads, diet books, and shelves of fat free food, but we are a nation with a major obesity problem.
THE LAST WORD
I am going to eat for my type, the sensible type. I know its no fun. But I am also the cheap type, I don't want to make the doctors and the drug companies richer than they already are. I don't want to waste my time and money of diet fads.
If you lose weight to fast, you can have kidney failure and die. Whenever you drastically change diet, consider being under a doctor's care.
