| e-young's Full Review: Eat Right 4 Your Type Diet |
I recommend this book for anyone who wants to improve what they eat, try alternative methods of controlling health conditions, but not for those solely interested in losing weight. I was actually looking for a way to deal with my allergies other than taking prescription medicine all the time. I was intrigued by reading the tables that list the medical problems typically associated with each blood type. I found the major health problems in my family were all listed on the Type O list, which we are, but not any of the other lists. The author lists foods that are beneficial, neutral, or should be avoided. I found that these lists often matched with what I liked or didn't like. What really convinced me to pay attention was when I had basically forgotten about the book and gone back to eating whatever I wanted. I tried plantains for the first time and almost immediately got sick. I thought that was weird since I never had felt that way but really had no desire to try them again. Then a couple weeks later I had some wild strawberry juice for the first time and had a similar, more violent reaction. Shortly thereafter I picked up the ER4YT book again and discovered that both were listed as items to avoid. This diet, which is a lifestyle guide not a weight loss aide, doesn't have to be followed strictly to be beneficial. I've really benefited by taking the advice in moderation - Remember that slow changes, not complete overhauls, are most likely to benefit you and you should enjoy this book.
