Pros: Wonderful concept. Learn a very healthy way of eating and when followed, you DO lose.
Cons: Food ridiculously overpriced. Its a business all about money w/a spiel & a rip-off.
The Bottom Line: This is a business w/a spiel and it is a rip-off. Once you learn the principles, you don't need J.C. anymore, but by then it's too late.

| niecie2k's Full Review: Jenny Craig Platinum Membership |
I joined Jenny Craig @150 pounds (I'm a 39 year old mother of 18 year old twin boys) so I wasn't morbidly obese but I did have some weight to lose as 135 was target. I went there for the 20 pounds for $20 special and let me just say this to you. DO NOT FALL FOR THAT. Selling you that is the last thing on their mind. That is to get you in the door and if I had it all to do again, I would've insisted that this was all I wanted and nothing else. It's all a spiel and it's all about money. Do not be fooled! As soon as they did the initial weigh-in/interview, had me pick my menu and explained the program, they started giving me the spiiel about how much money I would save with the $400 membership. They break it down very convincingly and confusingly too. The idea is this - if you spend the $400 (or is it $99 initial and then $399 broken down-either way it's too much), you will receive discounts every week on food. The discounts go from 10 all the way up to 30 percent depending on how much you buy. They give you the whole spiel about how this savings alone will help the membership pay for itself. That is IF you buy the food for this long. They also give you the spiel about the counseling sessions, the weigh-ins and the materials you get which according to them are worth their weight in gold. They're not. At least to me they're not. Firstly, the diet is VERY confusing and the materials are just as confusing and getting any help is like pulling teeth. Everyone treated me (at least this was my feeling in my center) as though this should not have been confusing and what was wrong with me for not understanding it. The concept is wonderful but can be carried over very quickly and easily off of Jenny Craig and into your everyday eating (which is what I learned and did fast and have, on my own, lost all of the weight and then some) and is easily implemented for your entire life. You have to learn limited foods, free foods, eat a certain amount of dairy, veggies and fruit everyday and track your eating. In addition to that, you have your Jenny Craig meals which are GROSSLY overpriced. Once you get the diet down, you are always eating, you DO lose weight you do not feel deprived, feel better and your blood sugar is stabliized. The counseling sessions are nothing but someone who weighs you and then reviews what you've eaten (if you keep track of it correctly) and answers any questions you may have. Now granted, some of the counselors are better than others but even those sessions, in my opinion, are part of the whole spiel to sell you more, more, more. They have things you can buy all over the center and don't think that because you spent $4-500 on your membership, that you're going to get a break in any of the other purchases, because you're not. They are over-priced as well. The whole idea is pre-packaged and portion control. You don't need Jenny Craig for that. I'll give you an example. Very quickly after joining Jenny Craig, I easily replaced her meals (which average $5.99 for a dinner, $4.99 for a lunch, $3.99 for a breakfast and $2.99 for a snack) with Healthy Choice, Lean Cuisine, Weight Watchers breakfast, lunches and dinners, and the 100 calorie packs for snacks. I'm saving a ton of money and don't need to even go to the center anymore.
