| dreamyone's Full Review: MediFast Plus Weight Loss Program |
I've been using Medifast for a month now, and have lost 14 pounds. It's easy to use. It took a few days to get used to the food. However, I add my allowed vegetables to the minestrone soup, and it actually tastes great. The eggs are actually wonderful, with a few added onions. The chicken soup is good, too, as long as you cover it, when it's done, and wait at least 5 minutes (while it expands).
What I really like about it is that I feel full and have trouble eating the final meal of the day. I save my bar as my treat - the peanut butter, or lemon yogurt bars, or caramel bars, or the S'More make a great treat as a meal after dinner. The chocolate bar is filling, and makes a wonderful meal. The bars are more filling than any of the power bars on the market.
(I did NOT like the cream soups, however, as compared to the rest).
I definitely have more energy, too, and we've been walking every day. I've dropped at least one, if not two sizes in less than a month. I highly recommend this diet.
(I had tried the competitor, NutriSystem in the past, but NutriSystem folks didn't ship the right things and it was a huge problem returning them. (I never got credited).
The folks at Medifast have been great to work with with incredibly fast shipment, and they're easy to talk to.
PS While it costs about $200 to $250 per month, I figured out that my regular food cost before MediFast around $200 or more per month. So I'm not paying more for MediFast, than I'd be paying for regular food. Shipping, if you buy the food for a month is free, and the first shipment (for a month's food) comes with a free week. The second month came with an additional $30 discount, so that's about the same amount I spent for regular food. You can also eat one "regular" meal per day. If anything, I've been too full on this diet. I haven't been hungry once.
UPDATE: New users can find a coupon for a free of week of food, by using Google to search "Medifast Free Food" or some variation and get a promotional code. This works if you purchase a month's supply of food.
I would also like to point out that this diet includes a regular meal. The Medifast foods are good, too. The scrambled eggs (from a packet) taste better than most scrambled eggs that people make, and I add a little bit of onions for flavoring. Although the chicken noodle soup is my favorite soup (make sure to cover for five minutes and let it "expand"), and it's really good, the Minestrone soup is incredibly filling. I add to the soup about four ounces of diced tomatoes (any store brand - it's easy and canned), along with cumin, garlic powder, and paprika, spices which have been shown to be good for general health. The Minestone soup with the added tomato (part of my vegetable allowance), is so filling that I can barely eat it all. I've added the diced tomatoes and the same spices to the chili meal, as well.
There are various milk shakes on the diet, and other beverages. I'm not a milk shake drinker, but I did try the chocolate, blended with crushed ice, and it was quite good. I suspect I will appreciate it more during the hot summer months. You can sip it for a long time, and it's very satisfying. The hot cocoa is perfect for chocolate lovers (of which I am one). However, it was so rich and sweet that I had to add extra water (which made it go further).
I've tried various "power bars" made by other companies and they don't compare. The chocolate is very dense and tastes great. The peanut butter (with chocolate) tastes almost as good as a Reese's peanut butter cup, but it's solid. The caramel is good, and the lemon yogurt bar takes care of me when I need a sweet taste. The S'Mores are heavenly, and I sometimes save that meal for around 8 PM, when historically, I get hungry. (I did NOT like the fruit and granola bar - it had a medicinal taste. It's the only bar I didn't like).
There are also snack foods, which include soups and crackers, and the crackers, individually packed, are very filling.
I didn't like the chocolate pudding, but I'm not a pudding lover. The neat thing about is that it's ready in five minutes.
I notice with the reviews of some of the other diets that people complain about problems with their hair and skin. Well, my hair seems way thicker and my stylish noticed this. My skin is glowing. Any body changes that I've had, have been positive ones. I have more energy than normal, although that might be because of the weight loss in general.
I also have added a vitamin pill and a calcium pill (Viactiv) which is chocolate flavored. I take these with a cup of hot water (I'm allergic to tea), and it's like a special treat. In addition, I take some other vitamins.
I'm so thrilled with all this because people are telling me they see a difference in me and people are noticing that my skin is glowing. Although I have naturally great fingernails, they seem to be growing slightly faster and feel slightly harder.
The only exercise I'm doing right now is walking about 20 minutes a day, which is what my doctor recommended.
I also want to add something on this company's customer service. Because we are going into a holiday weekend, with no mail delivery, I called the company to make sure they'd get me my order before the holiday. Not only did they promise to do so, the company called both my home and cell phones to let me know that they had sent the foods and that I would have them prior to the holiday.
I can't say enough good things about this diet and this company.
(You can email me if you have any specific questions, or want more info on adding spices and allotted vegetables to your Medifast meals. I do not have a medical background and cannot give medical advice. I will be traveling and will have limited email access, but will answer questions when I have computer access).
