| oompaloompa69's Full Review: NutriSystem Weight Loss Program |
I did Weight Watchers but needed something more structured because of the type of person that I am. Plus I don't have a lot of time to cook, prepare, and count points on a daily basis, which is why I chose NS.
If you're not that picky on foods and you don't mind spending the money, then this program could work for you. I already lost 15lbs in 2 months. I probably would've lost more if I exercised but this is without exercising.
You need to buy your own foods as well for their protein/dair and salads portions of the plan. That'll run you another 40-100 dollars a month depending on what you choose to eat for that portion of the meal and where you buy your groceries.
But you should check out their support forum/bulletin board for reviews on the good and the bad foods. DO NOT order the tuna casserole! YUCK! Some foods are good like the meatloaf was yummy.
Now the portions are pretty small but because you add in your own grocery items as well, the meals can be quite filling. Just make sure you eat all the foods and drink all the water they ask of you. Make sure you do read the bulletins for ideas, support, and information.
You just need to be in the right mind frame to do this diet. Diets work if you do the work. Just remember that certain weeks you'll lose some lbs and some you'll lose none. Your body is adjusting to the changes. You can lose up to .5 to 3lbs a week. It depends on how close you are to your goal weight and how much you have to lose. This is a steady weight loss program. It's not Atkins where you'll drop tons of weight quickly (which you'll likely gain back). This is a program that teaches you healthy portions and chosing healthier foods to snack on.
The first week is where most people lose the most lbs. After the that week is over, you'll start to lose maybe .5 to 3lbs a week. You're only suppose to lose 1% of your body weight because that's the healthiest way to lose and keep weight off. Plus you want your skin to catch up to the weight loss.
In average, I'd say some people can at least stick to the diet for 3 months. It's hard to eat the same foods over and over. But for people like me who don't care and just want to get to skinny land again, we'll work it and stick to it.
