Pros: Healthy alternative to fad diets, easy to do, not too much thought required
Cons: You NEED willpower, hard if you have many distractions that force you to cheat
The Bottom Line: If you have willpower and you've tried every other diet possible and think nothing will work for you, try it. What do you have to lose besides weight?

| lallygator's Full Review: NutriSystem Weight Loss Program |
There have been a lot of people on here who say that Nutrisystem is too expensive, and the food doesn't taste good, and I just have to interject -- are these people trying the same diet that I'm on?
I have been on Nutrisystem for a year now (although due to some issues, such as me moving and having to put my stuff in storage I had to take a break for a couple months) and I've lost approximately 75 pounds (I am still a little ways off from my goal weight, but I will be there soon!). I'll admit that it takes a lot of willpower to do well on the diet, because at first, with as large as the average portion size is in America, we are used to eating a whole LOT of food. And these portions are the actual size portions that we should be eating, so for the first couple/few weeks, you're going to be a little hungry. But I have tried every diet you can possibly think of, and I can tell you, this is the least stressed out/miserable I've ever been on a diet.
As I said previously, what inspired me to write this review in the first place is the fact that just too many people have been labeling this program as "too expensive" and the food as bad. Let me address both of these topics.
Too Expensive: I initially thought this myself when I was considering starting the diet. However, my boyfriend brought up an excellent point. At the time, he and I were going out to dinner every weekend, where we spent about $50 each weekend. Also, since I am a college student and work part time, I am on the go a lot, so I used to eat a lot of fast food. When I actually looked at the money I was spending on eating out, cutting that out of my routine left plenty of room in my monthly budget! Additionally, if you have a lot of weight to lose (which I did), signing up for the auto-delivery program gives you free shipping, and after a few months, you get a 10%, and then 15% discount on the monthly plan! If you still think it's too expensive, please take into account how much money you spend on eating out and on groceries and you will think differently, I promise you. My boyfriend and I have actually been SAVING money since I started, because now we don't go out to dinner, and he's stopped getting as much take out and fast food because I can't eat it with him. :)
Taste Of The Food: Right off the bat, I will admit that there are small portions. As I said before, Americans are used to eating way too much food, and the only way you are going to be able to lose weight in a healthy way is to consume a smaller amount of food, and eat the right kinds of food. Yes, there are some Nutrisystem foods that I will not order anymore, but there are some "real life" foods that I will never eat again, too. It's all a matter of personal taste. They are constantly updating with new items and improving upon old recipes.
The final point I want to make here is that the people who give this program negative reviews are expecting the perfect diet to be a cake walk. NO diet is easy, and Nutrisystem is not always easy either. But I have been trying to lose weight for almost a decade, and I've tried every diet in the book, and this is the only one that has worked for me on a long-term basis, so to see bad reviews possibly drive people away from something that could really help them really frustrated me.
