| azepinion's Full Review: NutriSystem Weight Loss Program |
I saw the advertising in magazines, television and it even was rated #1 of the top 10 diets on the Internet for convenience, food plan, price, etc. so I thought I'd give it a shot. I signed up for the two month auto deliver plan ($295 per month plus shipping). My first order came flawless (no substitutions of products that I chose). Plan seemed to work . . . lost 8 pounds the first month and was able to keep it off and enjoyed the convenience of ordering on line and not having to prepare meals/minimal grocery shopping and food preparation since I am a single household and work two jobs to survive.
The second shipment came and about 30% of my order (food) was NOT what I ordered. They substituted with food items that I would never eat in a million years (I am a picky eater)without even calling or e-mailing me informing me that certain items were out of stock and giving me the option to pick the substitutions. When I called the customer service line they checked their inventory and said that the items I ordered were "popular items" and that they were currently out of stock. I asked if they could ship when then became available and they informed me that I would have to keep calling/checking with them as they do not offer this service. I thought that was extremely strange for a company as large as NutriSystem to not have the capability of 1) having their ordering system sophisticated to inform you when you are placing your order that this item is currently out of stock/on back order -or-
2) informing you via e-mail/confirmation of your order placed that certain items are out of stock/on back order and giving you the option to choose other items or inform when these items would ship when they become available. About three weeks after my order was received the customer service rep informed me that these items were FINALLY in stock and that they would be shipped out ASAP. Ten days later I received the shipment with again SUBSTITUTIONS NOT the food I requested and NOT the food that the customer service rep verified was being shipped. I sent an e-mail to their management (escalation) and their response back to me was "We're sorry you are disappointed but the items you ordered are popular items and please continue to call our customer service line to see when these will become available and we will ship accordingly."
By this time, my third order shipped. I tried to make this order as simple as possible (only chose 12 food items) and of the 12 food items I chose, they substituted 5 food items. I was beyond UPSET. I called the customer service line and expressed my disappointment and I am trying to get the correct food sent to me.
In summary, if you are going to be on a diet and pay $295 a month plus shipping (the box is extremely heavy so shipping is not cheap), you'd better be eating food items you enjoy and getting what you ordered/paid for, not what isn't selling in NurtiSystem's warehouse and what they are shipping to you. The second and third months for me have been extremely hard to stay on their program since I have half of the food available to make three meals plus dessert per day. NutriSystem takes FOREVER to ship you the correct food that was THEIR ERROR and you may not get the correct food in the replacement shipment (speaking from experience). The on line ordering part is easy but dealing with the time you spend with their lack of customer service and the stress is not worth it.
If NutriSystem cannot keep up with their orders/demand for popular items then they need to either keep the popular items on hand, stop advertising about how wonderful their program/food items are, or go out of business if they cannot keep their customers happy.
Save your time money and join Weight Watchers or go to Jenny Craig where you are there in person to ensure that what you order/pay for is available and is what you are taking home with you are foods that you like in order to succeed with their program.
