Great program if you can stick to it!

The Bottom Line: Good program if you need help with portion control and having food readily available, and will stick with it!

I ordered Nutri-System several months ago and signed up for the vegetarian auto-ship program to get the best financial deal. I wanted to lose 10-15 pounds and just get on a better track of eating and working out. I thought the convenience of the pre-packaged and perfectly portioned food would be just what I needed. What I found was that Nutri-System has wonderful customer service and support, and if you devote yourself to the program...you will lose weight! I followed the program religiously and lost seven pounds the first couple weeks. I felt great. But, like what typically happens to me, opportunities to eat good food, drink and party came up and I got off track again. It is a constant battle for me because I love good food, socializing and good wine. Nutri-System is not "good" food, though it is not horrible either. In fact, breakfast and lunches are perfectly fine for the most part. Dinner entrees are where I felt depressed and deprived. You still need to buy a fair amount of fruits and vegetables and dairy to supplement the program, so there is still stuff to figure out, buy and prepare with this program. My problem is I would "hit a wall" physchologically where I just couldn't tolerate the food one more day. I needed something decent and pleasurable. Throw in monthly hormone and appetite changes (as a woman), and I just couldn't stay on it for any length of time. It is just alot of money to spend to "see-saw" like that, and in all honesty...if you drink lots of water, excercise alot and eat small portions and cut out alcohol...you will still lose weight no matter what you eat. I tried to cancel after the first month...but wouldn't you know, I had to order one more month's supply not be back charged for the money I saved initially. I guess it was stated somehere in the "fine print." I was bummed, but I ordered one more month and will try to get motivated to start it again rather than getting charged back. I still would like to lose another five pounds. So if you do want to try it...Beware of the deal where you save money! They have it all figured out to get at least $350-500 out of everyone before they can cancel. And though their customer service is friendly and supportive, they are definately SALESPEOPLE! I basically had to cry "poverty" before they would let me cancel. All in all, it's just like every other program out there. It works as long as YOU have the discipline to do it.
