still considering (Reply to this comment)

Your detailed comments were very helpful. I have seen the commercials and am feeling desperate to lose the 20 lbs. I have packed on in the last two years(and could stand to learn 30 total). I checked out the website and ended up calling to ask them to send me a few items to taste from the a la carte menu before I consider signing up. As a rule, I generally avoid beef unless fresh from the store and will definitely avoid it if I sign up, based on your review. I am curious to see how the chicken will taste. I am thinking of using this diet to jump start me as the gym isn't helping and I have developed a compulsion to snack all day. What are your thoughts on using for 2-3 months? (I'm hoping my boyfriend will try it as well)-Tammy

NutriSystem Today (Reply to this comment)
by sgoldmann2
Thanks! I lost about 50 pounds through NutriSystem when they had their centers years ago, and unfortunately the weight has crept back on again. I was thinking about trying the 'new' NutriSystem, since I had success the last time, but reading your review brought up other questions - specifically, the quality of the food you have to buy and the cost of that food.
I remember that the last time I ended up eating something called "Country Noodle" almost every night because I didn't like most of the other entrees, and whenever I had to choose food, I ended up buying an awful lot of snacks. $90 is a lot to spend on food you don't like, so I'm really glad I read your review!

You pretty much nailed it! (Reply to this comment)

Awesome review! My mother-in-law joined the plan a few month's back and she quit for the exact same reasons as you. She didn't like the quality of the food and grew increasingly tired of the menu.

Re: Nutrisystem help (Reply to this comment)

I am a 34 year old male and I have lost 70 pounds using Nutrisystem so far. It works well for me but I agree that it is not for everyone. I am single so the ease of preparation is ideal for me. I have heard some people complain that the food tastes horrible, but I have had no problems.

Nutrisystem help (Reply to this comment)
by billiemill
Thanks for your most informative review. You were very thorough and I appreciate it so because, I was vacilating as to whether to send off for the food or not. I borrowed the Nutrisystem book from the library and I think I can do it myself without buying their food. I know that when I have had TV dinners before, I tire of them fairly quickly. So this plan is probably not for me, although I understand about the glycemic index and good carb versus bad carb.

Hi Melissa!
I would definitely recommend trying their 5 or 7 day plan first to try it out - and it really DOES work - and you get plenty to eat. It's just not for me anymore - at least until they improve the food!
Thanks for the comment!

lose a very good 50 lb. myself *she said putting another Oreo into her mouth*; this does not sound like the thing for me though. Fabulous job on your review of it!

Hi Melissa,
I LOVE the Asian Lean Cuisine frozen dinners too. The Lean Cuisine brand is soooo much better quality than the NutriSystem!
Thanks for the comment and for the "most helpful" rating! :)

Great review, Stacey!! (Reply to this comment)

I started to join this NutriSystem Weight Loss Program many years ago after my first child was born, but quickly decided that I couldn't live with those pre-packaged foods for long.
I'd much rather have one of those new Asian Lean Cuisine dinners they have out right now. Yummy!

Hi Bonnie!
I get sick of salads too - but never get sick of fruit.
I love Boston Market and Marie Callendar's dinners - but you can't eat them on a diet - they are way too high in calories. The Healthy Choice, Weight Watchers and Lean Cuisines are much better choices for a diet!
Thanks for the comment!

Great Review (Reply to this comment)
by bonniesayers
This is an expensive system on a weekly basis. I dont mind pre-packaged foods but do not like fruits and salads so would not last.
I do prefer Lean Cuisine and Marie Calenders when on sale and also Boston market has some good ones.
Hope you get the bears and a response from the counselor.
