| amyquilts's Full Review: Optifast Program |
I did. I'm sorry I did.
I didn't get sick and I lost a lot of weight.
But I learned absolutely nothing about how to eat properly and keep the weight off. Basically, it was a waste of all that money and my time. Plus, it was intensely hard on my system.
I won't rehash the plan here. You can read other opinions with detailed descriptions.
Suffice to say that I followed the plan for three months, under weekly medical supervision.
The drinks taste like vomit. That's not an exaggeration. Three times a day, you drink something horrible. I was allowed to supplement with calorie-free broth and jello.
I almost went crazy.
The first meal I had after ending the program was one baked potato. That's all I was able to handle.
Soon, I began to eat whatever I wanted. I had no idea how to keep it off. There was no training, support or help from this plan.
And all the weight came back on, and THEN some. See, my body had thought I was starving while I was on Optifast (aka 700 calories a day), and so when I began to eat again, it hung on to every calorie it could. I may have screwed up my metabolism for life because of this.
When you're desperate to lose weight, this seems like a good option. But trust me, it's not. It's more important to learn how to eat in a healthy way, and when you do that, you WILL lose weight.
Read my opinion on Weight Watchers Winning Points, to find a current, sensible, SAFE way to reduce your size.
And if you're still considering this diet, read the review from the woman whose mom died while on it.
DON'T DO IT.
