| angel_adc's Full Review: The Grapefruit Diet |
Like a lot of people out there, I am constantly on a mission to find the diet to solve all of my weight loss needs. When I heard about the Grapefruit diet from a friend I immediately got excited. I suppose I am not cynical enough when it comes to "miracle" diets, but I try to remain optimistic in hopes that one day it will come along.
I spent two weeks drinking my least favorite beverage, grapefruit juice, morning, noon, and night. Not only do you have to drink the juice or eat a grapefruit at each meal, you also have to abstain from all types of sugar, including other fruit juices, and any pasta, potatos, fruit or breads. The first week was easy becasue I was determined to lose the 50lbs. in three months, but soon thereafter I broke down. I only lost a couple pounds and I felt it wasn't worth the torture I had put my tastebuds through.
If you are a grapefruit lover and a carb hater, you could probably do well on this diet. You are allowed to eat as much meat, veggies, and dressings, sauces etc. that you want. You eat two pieces of bacon and an egg, along with the grapefruit, for breakfast. You go on the diet for two weeks and then you get two days off when you can eat whatever you want. Like I said, it takes discipline and a love of grapefruit, and if you do decide to try this diet remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
