| mrmazda's Full Review: The Grapefruit Diet |
Okay, first off, grapefruit, for me, didn't burn any extra calories and as I sit here, having finally lost all my weight (I went from 244lbs to 155lbs) I can put the figures on paper and see that it doesn't make sense.
A normal person is supposed to have 2,500 calories per day, not on a diet. On a diet, your supposed to cut back to between 1,800 to 2,000 calories. Hmmmm..
So let's take adding 800 calories to your day. That immediately only leaves you with 1,200 calories to intake if you really want to cut your calories down and lose weight. Didn't think about that did you. That cuts down on what you have as options to eat, which hurts when you should be eating foods such as chicken and stuff that contain alot of protein and vitamins to substitue your cutting down on calories and potential nutrients.
I hated the grapefruit diet. I tried several it more than one time. The first time, I gained 6 lbs but that was probably my fault. I hate the taste of grapefruit and I had to put some sugar on top of that stuff. It helps curve the bitter taste but it was still awful to eat. I then switched it over to drinking grapefruit juice for the rest of that diet and I actually liked that a little bit better.
The second time I tried it, I never try anything just once, I gained about 4 lbs and I left off the sugar and stuff. Ate it just plain jane after my meal. G A G!!!! (Have I said how much I hate grapefruit!) After the second failed attempt, I gave up on the grapefruit diet. It was a bust for me.
I have met several people who have tried the diet, which consists of only having to eat a half of a grapefruit after each meal. The grapefruit is supposed to burn more calories than it gives you which should help you lose weight. In honesty, there are many foods that accomplish this including broccoli, boiled eggs, etc, but you have to cut down on the calories you intake to coordinate with the intake of that food. That is a mistake people often forget. You can't just eat that also since calories turn to fat overnight so to burn calories that don't exist isn't helping you lose weight. I never thought about that either until my personal trainer told me that.
You can give the diet a try if you want but I am not recommending it. I don't know of anyone who has tried it with a successful result. I have alot of friends that diet often and this is one they stay away from.
