| desoto_girl's Full Review: The Grapefruit Diet |
The "Grapefruit Diet"??? Give me a break!! Why are americans so darned LAZY nowadays, looking for miracle cures for everything... No one wants to face the simple truth that if you eat well balanced meals, take everything in moderation, and get a good amount of exercise, you'll BE healthy! I don't know why that's so hard to understand.
Everyone's looking for the easy way out, and sorry, there isn't one. Did it ever occur to anyone that if these diets ACTUALLY worked the way they say they do, if they were actually that easy and amazing, don't you think EVERYONE would be doing them? All the people in the world would be thin, healthy and beautiful if just one or two of these diets actually worked.
But everyone is NOT thin, and worse, everyone is not healthy. As a nation, Americans are just about as UNhealthy as they come. We refuse to do any manual labor, then we spend all our money at the gym. For example, why pay someone to mow your lawn, then pay to go to the gym, when you could kill two birds with one stone and mow the lawn yourself?
Any credible doctor will tell you that the only SAFE, time-proven way to lose/keep weight off, and be healthy and live a long life is to eat a good, nutritious diet, and exercise. Vitamins and supplements MAY be of minimal use to some people, in some cases, but they're generally just as useless as the fad diets, because that's what they are, a fad. Millions of companies jump in it and soon they're selling pills that are basically useless.
When a vitamin goes into your body, it comes out pretty much the same way it went in. You're "healthy" until you go to the bathroom, and then it all comes right out. Especially things like calcium pills, which many of my friends take and claim are so wonderful. None of my friends are lactose intolerant - why don't they just drink a class of milk? You can't cram a glass of milk into a pill, it doesn't work that way.
But back to the grapefruit diet - it doesn't sound very balanced to me, forcing you to eat a grapefruit at every meal. No matter what edible you're dealing with, if you eat too much of ANYTHING, it turns into a bad thing. I would suggest that anyone who wants to try this grapefruit diet might wish to try EXERCISING first, and eating balanced meals.
