| JulieinID's Full Review: Weight Watchers 1-2-3 Success Traditional Meetings |
I had been overweight since the birth of my four year old son. When I got pregnant with my daughter who is now a year old, I just added more weight to my already overweight body.
A month after she was born we visited an out of town friend who also had a new baby. She looked great and told me that she had been going to Weight Watchers. I wanted to look like her but I thought it might be complicated or not work at all.
She called a toll free number and found the information for meetings in my area. There were meetings 6 days a week. They had morning/afternoon/and night meetings. Their schedule had a time when just about anyone could fit them in.
So, the day of my 6 week check up I weighed 192 lbs. and I went to my first Weight Watchers meeting that night. I was nervous but I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. I filled out some paperwork and paid my initial fees of $35. They did my first weigh in 192 lbs. and gave me lots of paper work. The first meeting is just for newcomers. So, everyone there is there for the first time. They go over the program and answer any questions you may have.
The second week I was happy I had lost 2 lbs. The second week meeting is also just for second weekers so you can ask more questions that you come across during the week. The cost this week was $10.
Weeks 3-8 are also $10 per week. After the 8th week the fee drops to $8 per week. You must pay the weekly fee every week even the weeks you miss. Each week you come and weigh in and go to a meeting. The meetings last about 45 minutes and the topics range from cooking ideas to new ways to exercise.
I found the program very easy to follow. Each week you receive a journal to write down your meals. Everything you eat has a point value so you total your points after every meal and snack. Points are based on the fiber, fat and calories in the product. You have a point range that you must stay in so you will lose weight. If you have a special occasion, you can bank points so you can eat more on a certain day. The requirements on what you eat are to stay in your points, 2 servings of dairy, 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, and 6 glasses of water. They have little boxes to mark off so you can keep track of all that. You are also asked to do 20 minutes of activity, which you can break down into (2) 10 minute sessions. I did a lot of walking. But there are several activities that you can choose from.
I continued going to Weight Watchers for 5 months. In that time I lost 40 lbs. I went from 190 to 150. I went from a size 18 to a size 10. I was very happy. However, I didn't keep going and earn my lifetime member status. If you meet your weight goal, and maintain it for 6 weeks you will become a lifetime member. Lifetime members no longer have to pay the weekly fees as long as they maintain their weight goal. They also do not have to pay for missed weeks.
I found this diet very easy to follow. You can choose the foods you want to eat. It's easy to balance and they teach you very well how to find things you enjoy and stay within your points range. I lost weight every week I went. This diet is healthy and I have maintained my weight loss. I have gone back to some of my old eating habits but a lot of things I learned at Weight Watchers have stuck with me.
I am expecting a new baby, and I will return to Weight Watchers after this baby is born. I will stick it out this time and become a Lifetime Member. I highly recommend this program to anyone who needs to lose weight. It may not be the quickest way to lose the weight but it really works and the weight stays off!
