| Mazzie's Full Review: Honeywell Enviracaire 13520 Air Purifier |
Let Me Start by saying that we live very close to Houston, TX. We are 30 minutes away from the downtown area of the Second (at the moment, it flip flops from 1st to 2nd) most poluted city in the US. So we decided to buy an Air Purifier for that reason and becasue some of us have allergies. Our house (that we have since moved out of) was extremely dusty... I could dust every day, 5 times a day and it would still be dusty! Another reason was because the weatherman was telling us on an almost daily basis not to go outside if we were elderly, had small children, asthma, or allergies. We figured that if it was that bad outside, it couldn't be great inside.
We bought this at Target... they had many air purifiers to choose from, but after reading the information on this box, we decided that it would clean a larger area, more times, and filter out more harmful things than products in a comparable price range. These are some of the things the box said that 'sold' us:

This purifier was very easy to put together. You just screw the thing together basically! It is relatively lightweight, and has a handle, which makes it great for moving from room to room, or just a few feet for vacuuming. It has a very nice sound too! There are 3 levels you can put it on, and we usually keep it on 2. We have this in our family bedroom, by the way. It will be a bit noisy to you if you like silence, but we are a family that sleeps with noise, so it is just Heaven for us! Level 3 is a bit to powerful and loud for us, plus our room is only about 13 x 13 (if that) and we don't smoke, so we don't really need the high level.
There are two filters. One is disposable. It is the outer filter... It catches all of the big stuff, like dust, lint and all that stuff you see flying around when the window is open! LOL! You will replace this one about every 1-3 months depending on whether you smoke and things like that. The inner "hepa filter" is the one that gets all of the tiny things that you can't see. It only has to be replaced once every few years. When we moved a couple of weeks ago we noticed that the outer filter needed to be changed, but had the extra packed away, so we just took it outside and shook it out. That gave us an extra couple of weeks. The replacement filter costs about $14.99.
Well that's about all! There aren't any amazingly graphic details or features to this purifier, but it does the job well. It is extremely easy to use, and does what our family needs it to do. I would recommend this to any family looking for cleaner air in their home. Also for you smokers out there. No offense intended, but some smokers have the smelliest houses! LOL! Some members of my family included!! Please speak with your doctor about the many benefits of quitting smoking. This would also be a great product for a senior citizen or elderly persons home... once again, talk with your doctor about the risks you are at when it comes to air pollutants in the enviroment. Thanks for reading!
