I can't compare the Braun Synco 7526 Electric Shaver to any other shaver's, since it is my first and hopefully last electric shaver. I can compare the shaver to disposable razors and all of the Mach razor's.
I've been in the Air Force for 10 years and I can get in serious trouble if I don't shave every morning before work. Until recently, I've used the Mach 3 razor and disposable razors and have dealt with red, irritated skin. Since using the Braun razor, I no longer get the irritation.
The Braun gives a very close shave. The harder you press with the shaver on your skin, the closer the shave. It leaves my skin very smooth.
I have had the shaver for 14 months and have not needed to change out the blades.
The shaver has 3 settings for shaving:
0 Off.
1 Normal shave, with pivoting head. The head pivots pretty far in both directions, allowing the head to contact the skin at all times.
2 The head is fixed, for shaving problem areas. The head stays stationary, allowing you to get just the right angle for the chin, under the nose, and middle of the cheek.
3 Pop-up trimmer, for trimming sideburns and trimming around the ears. The trimmer extends far out the front of the top of the foil. It is a nice wide (about an inch) trimmer.
The battery life is a plus. I took the shaver on a 7 day trip and on day seven the battery was still going strong. After I charged it, I could tell the difference, but it still did a great job.
There is a green LED on the front of the shaver, which is a indicates the battery condition. Green light shows a strong battery. A red light for low charge. A flashing yellow LED at the base indicates the charge level (by the frequency in which it flashes while on the charging stand).
The braun shaver is much easier to transport then shaving cream and the Mach 3 I used before. I ride a motorcycle to work and carry a backpack. I woke up late for work before I got the shaver and tossed shaving cream and the Mach 3 into my backpack. When I got to work, I had cream all over important papers I was carrying. Now I have no mess.
The shaver has a base station that uses a alcohol solution for self-cleaning and the station charges the battery. I have had the shaver for 2 years and have only had to buy new solution twice.
I am very pleased with my purchase of the shaver. Based on the shaver not irritating my skin, it producing a close shave, its low maintenance, its long battery life, and its portability, I recommend the product to everyone.
