Cons: 2 yrs of the worst shaves ever, more of a skin ripping non-shave.
The Bottom Line: Remington should take their name from this bottom of the line unit and stamp it on a rock. Save your money towards a real electric shaver that will perform.
triple_irons's Full Review: Remington MicroScreen1-SF-3 Electric Shaver
Before I publish a review on a product I sometimes first read the other opinions (if any) that have been written. Doing so on the Remington Microscreen1-SF3 gave me slight pause as my shaver is of the cordless/rechargeable operation. Upon further investigation (users guide) it is notable that there are three models of the Remington Microscreen1 shaver.
SF-2 Corded operation only, 120V, AC, 60Hz
SF-3 Cordless Rechargeable operation only, with green charging indicator light, single voltage 120V, AC, 60Hz
SF-4 Cord and cordless operation with green charging indicator light and 1 hour quick charge feature. Single voltage 120V, AC, 60Hz
My model is the SF-3. Though I have used other electric shavers briefly in the past (with better results) somehow this is the only one that Ive used for the past 2 years. Ive basically been a soap and razor guy, and could never afford the convenience of an electric shaver until I saw the Microscreen1 at the local Longs Drugs. Man is this thing cheap, and yes, you truly do get what you pay for.
Ok, the trimmer works fine. The unit recharges fine. Its easy to clean, cordless operation is nice, but lets face it, the Remington Microscreen1 SF-3 shaves like a dull chipped rock. It comes without a case. The charger is the cord directly to your wall outlet, green charging light comes on when you plug it up.
The neck-beard thing with this shaver is a reality. It doesnt seem to do anything at all with hairs growing on the neck (under chin) area. Heres what I have to do .
Sunday night I give myself a good close twin blade razor and foam shave, then Monday morning I hit it with the Remington (fully charged) and each subsequent evening after work, and again in the morning. Thats twice a day to keep a half-assed close shave. If I miss a shave, or skip a day, forget about it and break out the foam. The constant use of this Remington has roughened my neck area, the damn thing nicked me and caused bleeding, I couldnt believe it. Pre-shaves have helped some, but Im fed up and am about ready to get up off my lazy butt and pay some good money so I can experience the real convenience that electric shavers are all about.
Recommendation
The Remington name has a good reputation, they should take that name from this bottom of the line unit and stamp it on a rock if that's what they wanted. Save your money towards a real electric shaver that will perform.
