Winchester USA 32 ACP 71 gr FMJ

This ammunition is the popularly priced Winchester "white box" brand of ammunition that is sold under the USA logo.  Avid shooters call it white box as it looks different than the standard yellow, black, or silver Winchester boxes. 

The USA or white box brand features ammunition types that sell a lot, usually most centerfire handgun calibers, 22 rimfire, and a few high volume rifle calibers.  Not every caliber is offered under white box but if it is the price is significantly lower than top of the line brands but it shoots just fine, is accurate, and is perfectly adequate for the stated purpose.

This ammo is the old familiar 32 ACP dating back to 1899 and created by John Browning, the prolific firearms designer who made many of the guns and ammunition we still use today.  The Colt pistols chambering 45 ACP and 38 Super are another pair of Browning's developments.

The 32 ACP was chambered in the Colt 32 ACP Colt 1903 pistol which is the one I own.  The pistol is still usable even though they are nearly 100 years old.  Walther and SIG also make 32 ACP pistols and there are many more that have been made since the 1900 Browning pistol introduced the cartridge.

The 1903 Colt Pocket Hammerless 32 I have is a jewel-like pistol with a deep rich bluing like you don't see any more.  The grips are black hard rubber with a Colt logo. 

The gun holds 8 rounds in the magazine that fits inside the grip. It was a favorite handgun of generations past and both police and gangsters equipped themselves with the small concealable 1903 Colt's.  Bonnie and Clyde and John Dillinger were known to carry 1903 Colt's.

The gun is still usable but it is not as powerful as a lot of modern calibers like 40 S&W or 9mm Luger but the gun is more carryable because of the hammerless appearance.  There is actually a hammer that swings inside of the streamlined slide.

I keep it in a drawer just in case I need it but there are better choices available today.  The Winchester USA ammunition has been used for informal plinking in my Colt 32 shooting soda cans at the edge of the woods.

If you have a 32 Auto, Winchester USA ammunition shoots well for  personal protection or plinking. It functions reliably and can be used to hit small targets at close range.
