Pros: Tight handling, svelte yet subtle exterior, comfortable and cozy interior, great factory sound system. Cons: High insurance rates, somewhat slow in 2.0L form, reliability is subpar, expensive to repair. The Bottom Line: Volkswagen's best-selling car in the USA is a minor disappointment, both in reliability and in ownership costs. Only recommended for do-it-yourself mechanically savvy owners.
----- General Jetta Model Information ----- As the era of the 3rd Generation Jetta ('94-'99) came to an end, the new 4th Gen. model began to infiltrate dealerships as a 1999.5 model. As is the case with most 1/2 year new model introductions, ...

Pros: Looks Great, Drives Amazingly Cons: No power seats
Wow, I really don't know where to start. In the past I have given reviews mostly on cars that I did not actually own. They were either cars of my friends or cars I just happened to know a lot about. I own a 2000 Jetta and am proud to say I have had...

Pros: Fun, fun, fun. Head-turning looks. Cool features and high popularity. Cons: Cool features + high popularity = higher prices. Short bumper-to-bumper warranty.. The Bottom Line: Sadly, this particular Jetta left a bitter taste in my cousin's mouth. It's a great car at first, but could use a better warranty for peace of mind.
In front of the little VW store around the corner you will see a sign that says "Drivers Wanted." After driving the 2000 Jetta GLX for a week, I'll gladly wait in line to fill the void.
Of course, it's not like there has...

We bought the 1999 VW Jetta Wolfsburg Edition because we had previously owned a Jetta. We absolutely loved it and the performance was wonderful.

Pros: Great-looking, well-equipped, fun-to-drive. Cons: 2.0L engine, automatic transmission, the cup holders.
When I moved to California from Canada in December of 1998, I was in need of a new car. After looking at several car models, the Volkswagen new Jetta was the one that stuck in my mind. (Well others did too, but I couldn't afford a BMW yet.)

Pros: Comfortable, Lots of Space, and Sporty looking Cons: N/A The Bottom Line: This car has been nothing but good to me. As long as you get the oil changed on a regular basis, you will have a long-lasting, durable car.
I have just recently purchased a 2000 Silver Jetta GLS with black leather interior and absolutely love it! I just bought it last Friday and find myself just getting in the car and driving around for no reason but to be in my car. When I first...

Keep getting better all the time
When I decided to trade in my 1997 GLX a few months ago, I seriously considered a SUV. I have a dog, Madison, and a lot of stuff to tote around-as we all do-like a couple of mountain bikes, a boat, etc. A...

Pros: Handling, Interior Quality, Great Features, Fun to Drive, Quick, Big Trunk, Great Stereo Cons: Small Back Seat, Poor Warranty, Expensive to Fix Collision Damage The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend this car to someone. The standard features are great, it is a blast to drive, engine power is very impressive for the size of the engine.
I bought this car after my 1991 Honda Accord was rear ended. The dealer I bought it from brought in from a dealer in another part of the state so when I received it, it had 104 miles on it. I couldn't drive a stick at the time, so my mom had to drive...

What new car earned J.D. Power and Associates' "Most Appealing Entry Midsize Car" for 1999? I'm glad you asked; presenting the 1999-2000 Volkswagen Jetta. It's just been redesigned for 1999, making it sleeker, more noticeable, safer, and...

Hi:
I bought my 1999 new Jetta GLS (Black) in May'99. It's features seemed like a good value for the money. I was debating between Diesel model and gasoline one. In the end I caved in and got 4 cyl. 5-speed gasoline...

I figured that I'd base...
