Pros: quality construction, great customer support Cons: Pricy but worth it!
ATV's are pretty much all the same, or so I thought until I seriously looked into purchasing one. The first day I came home more confused about them then when I started out.
I hit the internet for some in-depth research and found that while...
Pros: The ACT suspension, low-end torque, maintenance, reliability, and price. Cons: The heel-toe shifter takes some time getting used to, and full time 4WD
The Arctic Cat 500 4x4 is a very nice quad. A friend of mine owns one and I ride it regularly when I ride with him. My first impression of the machine when I first rode it on a steep hill was "Wow! This thing can climb!" As I rode it more and more, I...
I don't have a massive background of testing out quads, but I do have a basic knowledge, having ridden 4 or 5 different models. This one is BY FAR the best one yet.
Pros: Great handling & smooth ride. Cons: Not being able to convince people that this is the best 4x4 ATV out there.
I bought my Artic Cat 500 in the fall of 1999. I spent a couple of weeks looking at Hondas and Polaris and just about bought a Polaris when someone I knew suggested I look at a Artic Cat. Well I went to the Artic Cat dealer looking to find something I...
the cat has held up OK for what ive put it through. by farleyyoung ,Feb 21 '09
Pros: good in most all conditions, flexible frame, good brakes, tires, fairly easy to work on. Cons:FULL TIME 4X4, heavy, hard to turn on trails, and wheel bearings go out easily.
man, i tell you what. this bike has been one out of about 30 that i've rode, and it is one of the most reliable. i have taken mine through pits deep enough to go up to the seat and and even though its sittin in the barn, needing its carburetor cleaned, i cant argue with how well it's handled my abuse.
first of all the frame is one of the most flexible. mine has been flipped about ten times and i still havent had to do any work on the frame.
gas mileage is cut short because of the full time fourwheel drive.
handles great in mud, water, and on steep hills. even does somewhat well on ice patches.
very heavy for a 500, but it usually keeps all 4 on the ground.
top speed isnt the greatest, but it gets the job done. mine runs about 55-60 on a good, warm day.
parts of the engine are placed differently compared to more common manufacturers.
good factory tires. i think they are titans.
i recommend buying a $5 inline fuel filter. if i had done that in the beginning i wouldnt have to worry about debris dropping into my carburetor.
Pros: the only pro i can think of is that you can pick them up cheap Cons: Terrible to maintain cheap cylinder causes piston to wear quickly
Lose plastic, rough ride, and loud over all it sucks. For the love of all that is clean and holy please don't me a sucked for a cheap used bike.Pretty much like is said before ahhhh run away it's a Arctic cat 500 4x4
