Pros: Handles Well, Looks Sharp, Less Expensive And Lighter Than Other Harleys. Cons: Not designed for long trips.
Summary: I recently purchased the Harley-Davidson XL883 motorcycle. I was getting ready to order an 883 Custom, but would be on a waiting list until November. Another dealership got an XL883 in stock, and added their own custom parts. The additions made this ... read more

Pros: Perfect embodiment of the Harley feel. Cons: Some can't handle the Harley feel.
Summary: I got my motorcycle license last July at the advanced age of 49. Due to my age, I can say with emphasis, that I don't follow trends. In fact I'm pretty much a contrarian. Whatever the crowd is doing, I'm not. When the time arrived to buy my first ... read more

Pros: VALUE! A good bike to start with... VERY Addictive! Cons: Not for tall riders. Vibration at high speed (65 MPH requires a tough tail)
Summary: I always wanted a Harley but imagined my 5'5" stature would restrict me. A co-worker bought a 1200 Custom and let me sit on her... near perfection though the gear shifter took some negotiation. I went to a local shop and fell for a 2002 Luxury Blue XLH ... read more

Pros: Too many to describe! Cons: The guy at the dealer parts counter may not know what he's doing!
Summary: As a rider of used old Harley products my wife didn't want to try my junk. However, we found an 883 Deluxe at a good price and bought it. This would be my first ride on the Evolution engine . I ride an old Ironhead and an old Flathead. This would be ... read more

Pros: Styling, sound, power and ability to change. Good beginner bike or for a woman. Cons: Try to find a dealer to sell at M.S.R.P. May have to order and wait.
Summary: The 883 is probably the best bike that Harley makes. It's not too big and not too small. If you want more power, then talk to other Harley owners and they will steer you in the right direction so you don't waste time and money.
What is so nice about ... read more

Pros: A work of Art, solid, great reputation, quality, affordable, fun, easy to ride. Cons: Addictive
Summary: Back in 1976 I sat in the showroom of the local Harley Davidson shop on a gorgeous red Sporster and knew that one day I'd be back. Marriage, being a single parent, work and life stuff took precedence for many years for me although I never lost that ... read more

Pros: Great experience. Cons: Not what a sports biker would expect.
Summary: Before I bought my 2001 Harley Davidson 883 sportster I went through a lot of reading. I read about Suzuki SV650, Buell's, Ducati Monsters and Yamaha's. I didn't know what to buy: speed or looks, modern or classic, fast or fun.
But hell, you ... read more

Pros: Est. Price is just $5345 Cons: Real Price is about $9,000-10,000, smallest H-D costs like BEST Honda
Summary: What's the deal with the Sportster 883 being called a motorcycle costing just $5345? I don't blame Epinions for an incorrect price listing (maybe that's what Harley Davidson told them), but you cannot find a new Harley for that little money-not any ... read more

Pros: Easy to control, lightweight, reasonably priced, great resale value Cons: Some customizing necessary for comfortable long road trips
Summary: I started riding at the ripe old age of 43, and my first bike was an 883. Although I also have an Ultra Classic, I prefer the 883 because it weighs less, sits low, and is easier for me to handle.
The Sporty is a good bike for shorter people, ... read more

Pros: reliability,
Aftermarket support,
Unbelievable resale value. Cons: Vvvviibbration at highway speed. (can be lessened never eliminated)
Summary: This bike behaves so well its almost boring. I owned a 1992 and it has changed very little but what has is for the better. Better brakes,Belt drive, sealed gel battery, better transmission gearing, larger tank, sealed 100,000 mi wheel bearings and many ... read more

Pros: This bike is alive, it has a soul! Cons: Expensive, needs tuning . Wont start, takes ages to warm up, vibes like mad!
Summary: Here is a straight, no nonsense opinion of my 883. I've owned it for 1 month and done about 400 miles in rain, fog and bitter cold.
First, it hates to wake up: It churns that electric start until you think its hopeless, then it fires.
Second, ... read more

Pros: Chrome, deep exhaust, good starting bike, low *for an HD* price, manageable Cons: Not the "big twin" your neighbor always gloats...only 1/2 price of a big twin
Summary: The light weight and short seat height (27") of the Harley Davidson 883 Hugger, is a real nice feature for smaller-bodied riders...from born again bikers, to first timers, to those who've never ridden a cruiser before...but enough from me, here's what my ... read more

Pros: great all around bike Cons: accessories and parts can be $$$
Summary: I have been riding motorcycles for a long time and have wanted a Harley since I first laid eyes on one. I looked at a bunch of used Sportsters and realized that I would only be saving about $1,000 and get a bike somebody else customized to their taste. ... read more

Pros: Dependable. Sounds excellent. Gets many positive comments. Inexpensive. Cons: I live in the northern part of US, & I can't get on the bike as much as I would like to.
Summary: I wrote an earlier Epinion just a few days after I took ownership of my 2000 HD Sportster. This is a follow up Epinion nearly one year "down the road".
Basic "down the road" facts:
6200 miles in 11 months. ... read more
