Almost Absolutely Brilliant

by Brian_Igo Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Aug 20 '00
Pros: Amazing refinement and attention to detail, hands-down the best all-around sportbike in the world.
Cons: Could use more torque, LBS has improved from infuriating to merely annoying but it's still there.
The Honda V-4 has been tagged as an old gits’ sportbike for so long it’s a wonder they don’t have "VFR Parking Only" areas at the neighborhood senior center, or that Honda hasn’t bought massive blocks of air time on The Weather Channel to...

VFR800 M.O.Y for a reason!

by dpeabody , Jan 17 '00
Pros: Fuel injection. Linked Brake System, Aesthetically pleasing to the eye, center stand,Perfect for several riding styles, Large fuel capacity, aftermarket accessories, oil sight gauge
Cons: stiffness of seat on long rides, time required to add/remove seat cowl, stock pipe covers swingarmless wheel,
To accurately describe all of the unique bonuses of owning this particular bike would fill a small novel, but I will condense it and highlight some of the basic reasons I purchased this bike over any others on the market as well as some post purchase...

It's more money...but...

by Don_Carnage , Sep 14 '00
Pros: Honda reputation, good power, predictable handling, great sound/feel
Cons: Heavy clutch, steering takes some muscle, fuzzy mirrors
After many zillions of miles and more years than I care to count, it's time to replace my Nighthawk. Briefly, I pretty much decided I wanted another Honda since my last one was of such high quality and the service has been excellent.

So I hit...

1998 VFR: My first motorcycle

by mantra427 , Aug 06 '00
Pros: Power, comfort, looks, growl, Honda quality.
Cons: Heavier bike
1998 Honda VFR Interceptor 800. I did much research in zines and online, and bought this bike without a test-drive. I did test-ride the Ninja ZX-7r and Suzuki TL1000s. VFR was definitely the most comfortable sport bike I've ever ridden, but then this...

Quite the machine!

by jamesdiff , Mar 30 '00
Pros: Best all around sport/sport tourning bike made.
Cons: Stock tires, weight.
I purchased a used 1998 VFR800 Intercepter with 4000 miles on it seven months ago as a sport/commuter bike. I have ridden over 5000 miles with the bike including very fast canyon rides and daily rides to work, rain or shine.

The bike has had...

Best all around sports bike...

by usa1 , Apr 04 '00
Pros: Performance, quality, look, fuel injection, brakes
Cons: None
I have a 1999 Honda VFR800 Interceptor. It's my third bike, but first new bike that I have purchased. I researched a long time before I decided what I wanted. My research steered me to this bike and convinced it was right for me even though it cost...

Power all the time

by hancinoman , Feb 13 '00
Pros: Fast, a lot of torque
Cons: Seat cowl is a pain to remove.
I purchased the VTR1000 for three reasons. I loved its design, exhaust note and most of all It's torque. I was tired of riding a sport bike that required a high rev for power. I wanted a machine that wasn't so mundane and the Superhawk was the...

A great evolution of the Interceptor

by jcargal , Oct 30 '01
Pros: V4 engine, styling, Honda brand reputation
Cons: Voltage regulator problems on some bikes with no rhyme or reason...incredibly bad stock tires
This really is a great all-around motorcycle. There are some complaints from the VFR community about several things: expensive bodywork replacement from parking lot tipovers, voltage regulators that go out for no reason (and the replacement fizzles...

Is The Speed Worth It?

by Korie , Oct 14 '00
Pros: Nice, Smooth Running Motorcycle
Cons: Need first time driver training.
The very first date, that I had with my husband (friend at the time) was going for a ride on his motorcycle. I expected him to drive up on an older model bike because he was in his 30's. He drove up on an Interceptor. I was impressed. It was a nice...

VFR 750F A RIDER'S IMPRESSION

by forrys , Dec 19 '99
Pros: V4 sound/pull, comfy, did I mention the V4?
Cons: cheap solo cowl. expensive plastic.
I bought a 94 VFR 750 with about 10k. After riding a GSXR and FZR for the past 4 years, I wanted something a little more comfortable. Lay any reservations about this motorcycle not being a "true sport bike" to rest. It has tremendous...

Intense Interceptor

by jibmaster9444 , Jun 04 '00
Pros: sporty but comfortable
Cons: not an all out sport bike
This is not just your average sport bike. The Interceptor (formerly known as the VFR 750) is a combination of sport and comfort. Unlike many other sport bikes the Interceptor has a more comfortable riding position making it easy to make longer trips than...

Excellent ride

by bnlitin , Jul 04 '00
Pros: V4 engine, quality, refinement
Cons: suspension, wieght
I bought the Honda VFR800 after test driving a number of other bikes (including Honda F4, Kawasaki ZX9R, Triumph Sprint ST and RS, BMW R1100S).

The VFR is a very comfortable bike with a fantastic engine. The V4 has excellent engine breaking,...

DPeabody

by dpinning , Apr 01 '00
Pros: Beautiful, Yellow Paint job
Cons: Price
This is a thank you letter to DPeabody for his informative review of the VFR 800 Interceptor. The main purpose it to get his contact email to ask him further questions on the aftermarket equipment he mentioned in his outstanding review. Since this is...

Honda VFR 800FI

by ddailey , Dec 20 '99
Pros: engine power, price, comfort, handling
Cons: weight
The 1998-2000 Honda VFR 800FI is an excellent sport-touring scoot. I had the 750 model, reviewed in other notes on epinion, but this is the first I've seen on the 800FI (Interceptor). I bought htese scoots when I discovered I had bad hip arthritis, and...

Love the VFR

by allysonv , Jan 31 '00
Pros: responsive, well built and a joy to ride
Cons: only comes in red
I owe an 86 VFR and decided to buy a 98. Although I loved the 86 dearly, the 98 is definately the best bike I ever rode. The fit and finish is even beyond that which you can typically expect from Honda. The handling is flawless on the street. Although...

VFRs and the Rest of 'Em

by MacScratchy , Dec 20 '00
Pros: Power band, fit and finish.
Cons: cost-but not really
My first V4 Honda was an 84 Interceptor, my second was an 86 VFR my third was a 91 VFR and last week I spent an intimate weekend with a 99 VFR.

Until I climbed on the back of the 99 I would die defending the title of the 86 VFR as the greatest...

Another work of art by Honda

by jeffs320 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Oct 10 '00
Pros: Comfortable ride, fast, decent cornering
Cons: A little pricey, doesn't handle like my R6
What can I say, Honda seems to make some of the best sport bikes on the market today. The CBR F4 is my second favorite 600cc bike I have ever ridden (nothing touches my Yamaha R6, of course), the CBR 900RR is definitely a classic, there aren't too many...

by bmwmoto , Feb 25 '01
Pros: Great power, comfort and handling, Honda reliability
Cons: Noisy transmission first 2000 miles
If you only have the cash to have one street bike - this is the one to have. Wonderful handling, power and comfort combined with legendary Honda reliability make the Honda VFR 800 a fantastic ride!

The fuel injection takes a bit of getting...

VFR 750 Interceptor

by jp_clemente , Dec 13 '99
Pros: Elegant high performance HONDA
Cons: price of parts
This bike is not a 100% sports bike such as the CBR. Although it's characteristics and performance are similar, i believe this model is targeted to the middle-aged male who is looking for style with a little attitude.
The bike is, as in most Honda...

Cons: Tasmanian weather
First new bike I have bought, and not looking back, great for 2 up riding as well as single fun, Found it great on long runs for comfort for both myself and partner, The new v-tec works a treat and gives you that little more power for overtaking and just a quick squirt when you want to have a play, Great all rounder

2003 Interceptor
by phoneman640 ,Apr 23 '04
Pros: Fast, eye-catching, comfortable, stylish, bells and whistles (center stand, clock, temp, digi
Cons: Pricey (but worth it), a little heavy
Well, since I could'nt find the 03 vfr800 in the listings, I am just adding to the 00 page to get the word out. This is truly the best all around bike I have ever owned. The price tag may seem a little steep, but if you want a powerful, quiet, head turning, comfortable bike, this is the one for you. I fell in love with the stylings years ago, but when they placed the exhaust under the seat, I was sold. The bike has smooth power, falls into to turns effortlessly, and stops quickly and safely with the linked braking system. And, of course, you can go wrong with Honda quality!
