Pros: Economy, handling, mid-sized power Cons: Fuel capacity, seat comfort
Summary: I bought my 2000 VS-800 in October 2003 when it had 1954 miles on it, and I have not been sorry. My previous riding experience was minimal and many years ago, so I was determined to buy a mid-sized bike to get some experience under my butt before ... read more

Pros: Great beginner bike, sporty handling, quick acceleration, simple, cheap, cult ride. Cons: Small tank, Carbed, lacking 5th gear, unreliable with severe age.
Summary: I own a black 1994 800 that I bought off of a close friend who was selling it to purchase a newer Harley XR1200. He sold it to me for $1,100 with some problems.Might as well start with the bad news; the bike's condition was extremely worn, due to his ... read more

Summary: I bought a '93 Intruder vs 800 ln Jan.2012. I found it on craigs list for $700. It had sat out in the weather for who knows how long. It's paint was faded, some of the crome was flaking, but was in generally good shape. The only real problems I found ... read more

Pros: Responsive handling, Quick acceleration, Classic looks, Good power Cons: Gas tank too small, footpeg location and seat height not comfortable for taller riders
Summary: I recently bought my Intruder after being off a bike for over 10 years, I finally got tired of saying "next year" I've never owned a big bike so the Intruder appealed to me as well as the price. I have been surprised at the power of this bike, it does ... read more

Pros: Light, simple, user friendly, power, easy, just jump on and go, and go, and go. Cons: small gas tank, two gals and some about a hundred miles...battery hard to access.
Summary: I live in the south. I bought my 2000 Intruder 800 in March, and it was still chilly. I have had seven other bikes, and always had a reason not to ride. It was to cold, it might rain, could not carry what I was going after. I bought it from a guy that ... read more

Pros: Looks, power, handling, low maintaince. Cons: Stock tires, small gas tank, seat can be uncomfortable.
Summary: I got a 1999 Suzuki Intruder VS800 as my first bike recently. Not really having anything else to compare it to, other than the 250cc that I rode in my Motorcycle Training Course, I thought that it had more power than I would ever need in a bike. Also, ... read more

Pros: Great looks, more power than a cruiser needs to have Cons: Seat, small gas tank
Summary: I bought my bike used, in 2004, and it is a 2001. The bike only had 1,700 miles on it. Super bike. It has torque to burn. Speed limit is somewhere in excess of any sensible riding, I needed 85 once, and it got there from 60, in less than the length ... read more

Overall reliable
Cons: Three speedometer cables in 55,000 miles
Clutch starts to slip after 15,000
High speed wobble
Summary: This is my fourth Suzuki. I've been pleased by the shaft drive (the other three were chain drives), but the handling and reliability have been lacking. And, when I've needed to get replacement parts from Suzuki, the wait has often been interminable. At ... read more

Summary: My wife has a 2003 Suzuki Intruder. It's basically the same bike as the 2000, so I've included the review here. We've put over 3,500 miles on this bike in the last year and have found it to be reliable and enjoyable to ride. The seat is comfortable, ... read more

Pros: great looks, stable smooth ride, high quality manufacture and generally very well engineered Cons: no storage, poor helmet lock, servicing difficulties, unreliable fork-lock, for smaller riders not behemoths
Summary: OK I am smaller than most of my biker cohorts (5'6"/160lbs) and this has made buying the right bike difficult. I am sick of feeling I am on the wrong horse. That is one of the reasons why I have been ecstatic since getting my '87 Intruder. This is a ... read more

Pros: Quick, slick ride. Nice acceleration, decent aftermarket upgrades. Cons: Small tank, a bit of a production for some routine maintenance.
Summary: I really like this bike. I bought it used with some aftermarket pipes, and they give it a nice rumble. One up riding is what the bike is made for, but it still handles quite well with my rather tiny wife on the back.

Pros: Hot-rod power, gorgeous looks, good handling, very reliable Cons: Small tank

Pros: Lots of style for the money, high quality.Great around town bike. Cons: Awfully underpowered on the highway, too small gas tank, narrow front tire is tricky.
Summary: You have to love the looks, especially for the price.Slip on some louder exhaust and a jet kit and this is a great bar hopper bike.On the highway at 60-65 mph this bike is screaming for a sixth gear though. The high revving on the highway also drains the ... read more
