Pros: nice on dirt Cons: limited safety on street
Summary: Dual Purpose bikes used to always be considered a compromise bike. Not real good for the street or the dirt. This one is cut out more for the dirt. If you really need to go somewhere, it's street legal. But I don't think you are real safe on it in the ... read more

Pros: Durable, cheap to run, handles well. Suspension is best for off-road use. Cons: Limited fuel range, handlebars bend easily. Higher maintenance than seems reasonable.
Summary: This bike was bought by myself new for $5200 CAD in June 2004, when I learned to ride it. I've only put on 8200kms due to some wipeouts that have prevented me from riding on occasion. I am 6'3" tall and usually weigh 210lbs, so take this into ... read more

Pros: Fun bike to bomb around on. Seems well built. Cons: No starting after sitting for a week. Seat uncomfortable. Signal light switch weird
Summary: Decided on this bike because all the other Dualsport bikes are to tall and I like to be able to reach the ground. The bike is quite peppy on take off, but does have it moments of being gutless. My old two stroke DT Yamaha had more life in it. This bike ... read more

Pros: e-start, bullet proof motor, tried and true design Cons: not fashionable or trendy
Summary: Out of dirtbiking for 20 years, I recently bought a New "old stock" 2001 XT 225 to chase my 9yoa step son on his TTR 125. I guess Santa was good to both of us. I was skeptical of the "little" 225, as I come from a motocross background (years ... read more

Pros: affordable, easy to own, good power, easy to ride, FUN!! Cons: rear disc brake, starting in cold weather
Summary: This is a perfect entry-level bike for a shorter rider who likes riding dirtbikes but also wants to ride on the street. This is the answer! It's not a big thumper, but it's quick and agile and easy to ride, even if you have little riding experience. I ... read more

Pros: Great off road bike and good commuter, easy to handle and really indestructable. Cons: Not really for the highway. Not a bike for an experienced off road rider.
Summary: I bought a 2000 XT225 a month ago, used, with only 29 miles on it.
Before buying it, I did careful research, reading reviews and checking out other bikes. I decided it was the perfect bike for me. What I needed was a good off road bike that I ... read more

Pros: Low seat height, light weight, street legal but good on the dirt too Cons: Not enough power for experienced riders, not for hwy usage
Summary: After taking a generic bike rider's safety course, I bought this bike to continue learning on. I'm short (5'3) and not that strong, and this bike turned out to be the perfect beginner's bike. I wanted to be able to learn out on the dirt but ride on the

Pros: super power to beginners. Might embarrassed the larger bikers due to its agility. Cons: over heat when immediate acceleration is engaged.
Summary: Easy-riding bike. Very comfortable because of its good power-band and low seat height. It has excellent torque, climbs well, and is comfortable enough to ride for hours. The only problem I have experienced is that it feels like not starting in a cold

Pros: Fun, economical, light weight, low seat height, beginner friendly, electric start, on road/off road capable. Cons: Small storage compartment doesn't lock, cold starting sometimes difficult, not recommended for highway speeds.
Summary: I bought a 2004 Yamaha XT225 in July of 2004 and have about 10 months and 1,500 miles of experience on it. So far I am very happy with it and continue to enjoy every ride. Most of my riding is on paved secondary roads. It is much more comfortable at

Pros: Appeals to women Cons: Heavy, bad carb design, underpowered
Summary: My wife chose this bike due to its style, size, street legal, in that order. It is a very easy bike to ride, but is plaqued with a horrible carburetor design that also plagued her old TW200. She doesn't ride the bike often, and the carb becomes gummed
