Pros: powerful, super easy to start Cons: turning a bit strange
Although our Big Bear 4x4 was originally purchased for hunting and cruising around the property, it has also been heavily used as a recreational ATV as well. In any one weekend this Bear can be going through creeks, mud, up nearly straight inclines, and...
Pros: big, lots of power, excellent turning, Great ground clearance Cons: tippy when turning tight, single rear shock
The Yamaha Big Bear is a very dependable machine that takes you a lot of places. It has never broken down on me yet and i run it in hard conditions. I have taken it through big mud holes and it got me out with ease! Gees it's good for everything.

Pros: Goes absolutely anywhere! Cons: Hard steering.
We bought our Big Bear 400 last year. It was bought as a Father's Day present. It will go anywhere; through trenches, mud holes, over logs...you name it. It is so easy and simple to ride; you cannot kill this no matter how hard you try. It has the one...
Pros: big motor, adjustable shocks, nimble steering Cons: very thirsty
I recently purchased the new 2001 Big Bear 4 x 4 for what i though was a bargain at 5000$. I bought the Big Bear for trail riding and odd jobs , but I'm finding it very versatile. I love the low end torque the 400 puts out and the 4 wheel drive to...
Pros: Big,Strong, and nearly unstoppable. A great all around machine.
Cons: S-L-O-W
My wife and I recently bought a BigBear for trail riding, general recreation, some work around the yard, and getting way off the trail and deep in the woods for wildlife photo ops. After putting 100 miles on it in the first 2 weeks we have decided that...
Pros: Fast, nimble and reliable Cons: better floorboards
The Big Bear 4x4 is a GREAT machine for the money... or even a machine for a $1000 more! Its quick enough, good ground clearance, and rides nice. I like the 4x4 select - much better than perm 4 wheel drive. GREAT machine for the money... and invest in the warn winch.
Pros: LOW END POWER, UNBREAKABLE! Cons: TOP SPEED ONLY 45 MPH.
I purchased a Big Bear 3 years ago and have yet to find a fault! It's the 2 wheel drive and I go through lots of deep sticky mud and have only been winched out once. It's not the fastest, but it has the low end power to do ANYTHING someone over 30 years old will ever ask! I once pulled a much larger ATV for over 7 miles through mud and up some really bad hills to get it ro a location here it could be carried back to a shop for a blown motor and never had any problems at all.It has never broke down on me and the aftermarket exhaust and carb jets seemed to give it even more low end power. I would recommend this machine to any of my friends who are not speed freaks.
