First, to qualify this report. I've had a lot of bikes and have used them for fun, commuting and touring. I've had most makes (Honda, Yamaha, CCM, Kawasaki, Ducati, Triumphs and BMW's), and some pretty fast ones too (stage 2 tuned 150 bhp CBR1100XX ...
Pros: Beautiful, massive power, fit and finish, smooth and stable, outstanding cruise control Cons: Heavy at low speed, cramped riding position, shifting throws are long and somewhat imprecise
A smooth, powerful, elegant and well proven powertrain from the K1200RS, A great two up sports touring bike. Remove the cases, and you actually have a RS and can run with nearly anyone. Terrific brand and K12 community. For the rider who is not a V ...
Pros: Superb performance coupled with great looks and all extras as standard Cons: £11595.00 but once ridden you can live with the cost

Pros: Smooth response of the BMW K1200 engine, power windscreen Cons: Top heavy, unresponsive front end
Top heavy, with narrow handlebars and relatively unresponsive front end geometry, the GT is an unhappy compromise between the bulked up Gold Wing wannabe LT and the incredibly nimble K1200RS. The GT is hard to handle in the twisties, yet uncomfortable on long straight stretches as well.
For the best sport tourer in the current BMW line, ride the K1200RS. For validation, see the Jay Leno interview in the current BMW Owner's News.
Pros: heated seat, heated grips, old on to the grips! This is a lot of fun Cons: needs larger tank, low MPG, heavy
12 months ago I purchased the K 1200 GT, 03 model. It had 4000 miles on the bike - I have now put another 10,500 on the odometer. I have owned many bikes over the years but this is the finest. The previous owner put many extras on it, upgraded the bars, staintune exhaust, larger shield, etc.
