An Auto Enthusiasts Review of the Cayenne S

by qooldude
Jan 22 '07 - Updated Jan 23 '07

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Power, handling, transmission, not too common, Porsche racing heritage.
Cons: Value, fuel consumption, limited features and no third row seat option.
The Bottom Line: Recommended if you're looking for a powerful SUV that handles well and admire Porsche vehicles.

After months of reviews, test drives and sleepless nights, I just took delivery of my 2004 Cayenne S. Not a brand new vehicle, but new to me. I belong to a few car clubs so I'm writing this review as an enthusiast. "Oh great, another car snob ...

CAYENNE = POS (you know what it means)

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Porsche Mystique, Styling, Ergonomics, Transmission (when it worked right), Brakes
Cons: POOR Dealer support, POOR Nat'l support, 11 times to service in FIRST year.
The Bottom Line: If the very dealer network in which you have purchased products, ordered brand new, can't help you during warranty w/ a LEMON, then why put your trust there again?

I purchased my third Porsche brand new, after my horrible LAND ROVER's engine caught fire after just 44k miles. I was in heaven when I drove the Cayenne out of the dealer's showroom. Little did I know that the trip would soon turn to Hell. Within just ...

Pros: Handling, Styling, Comfort, Interior, performance, off road capabilities.
Cons: Gas Millage (15 MPG around town with a heavy foot)
The Bottom Line: Get one. Take a test drive and see for yourself

Recently purchased a CPO 04 Cayenne S. Love the vehicle and didn't think an SUV could provide the smile factor i expected to loose moving to a larger vehicle. I have an 18 month old and one on the way and just couldn't fathom fitting everyone comfortably ...

Pros: Excellent handling, safe and turns well.
Cons: Expensive, heavy car that requires more frequent tire changes.
This car has been unbelievably reliable beyond belief. I have had no problems with the car. The turbo has unbelievable power and handling. Breaking is terrific. I would recommend this car to anyone who can afford it.

Porsche Cayenne S

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: On board computer, stereo, awesome acceleration-6 speed tiptronic, Porsche quality brakes
Cons: Expensive
This is a wonderful SUV. It handles much better than the Tourareg, Mercedes ML and Lexus GX and has significantly more horsepower. The Bose sound is incredible--opt for the top of line audio and the leather seats are both comfortable and practical, especially with seat warmers. The navigation system is much better than BMW and Mercedes, but not as nice as the Lexus GX (100 less hp!). Xenon lights are a great option and it sure looks better with 19's or 20's.
