Pros: Roominess, trunk space, seats fold, general capability Cons: Bland exterior, interior looks cheaper than it is, generally lacks a soul The Bottom Line: A very good value for those seeking a roomy, functional sedan. Not very rewarding to look at or drive, though.
In 1997 Ford went outside the company to hire J Mays as its new chief designer. Earlier Mays had been chief designer at Audi, and Ford hoped hed work similar magic in Dearborn. Well, the magic has been a long time coming. Mays concepts ranged ...

Pros: Vast and comfortable interior, huge trunk, pleasant CVT powertrain, smooth and quiet road manners. Cons: Deeply conservative styling and personality, unimpressive interior materials, mild to the point of blandness. The Bottom Line: In many respects, the Five Hundred seems to be preaching to the domestic-car choir instead of breaking new ground. But there's also newfound solidity and sophistication under the skin.
My Experience I recently attended the Ford Racing Innovation Drive event in Pasadena. It was held at Irwindale Speedway, and was essentially a showcase for Ford's new 2005 models--the Five Hundred sedan, the Mustang coupe, and the Freestyle ...

Pros: Comfortable, stylish, affordable, nice trim options...did I mention stylish? Cons: Not the most horse power in it's class. The Bottom Line: This car is affordable, attractive and comfortable. Everything a full-sized sedan should be.
It has been a long time since I have written a review here at Epinions. I guess it just took something worth writing about...I just sold my Expedition and have purchased a 2005 Ford Five Hundred...a car I feel is worth writing about. The Trim ...

Pros: Huge interior and trunk, nice quality on the interior materials. Cons: Bland, horrid fit and finish, underpowered with the CVT, did I mention bland? The Bottom Line: Get it if you don't care about the car you drive.
Ah, the joys of company cars. Currently in a 2004 Altima that I'm loving, the time is coming where I'll be able to pick a new car for work. The contenders? The aforementioned Altima S-Extra (this time a 2005), the Ford Five Hundred SE, the Ford Escape ...

Pros: Excellent driving position, great auto transmission, oodles of space, great visibility, decent handling Cons: Just adequate power, cheap (good looking)leather upholstery, bland styling, over exposed wipers, prop hood The Bottom Line: A true step up from the Taurus, yet not quite world class.
My daughter was trying to talk me into taking a ride this past Sunday and finally succeeded by suggesting we "go check out some cars". I've been out of the car test-driving racket for months now, and it sounded like a good idea. We decided we should ...

Pros: Styling, comfort, economical, classy, sleek, good performance, great cargo capacity, and easy to drive. Cons: Storage compartment dashboard bubble but getting that fixed next week. The Bottom Line: This sedan is someone who wants a lot of room in a vehicle that drives like a smaller sedan with class and style.
Exterior: The Limited has chrome on it that the SEL and SE lack. Personally, I love the chrome accents. I even purchased the aftermarket trunk handle trim and chrome license plate frames. I am not thrilled with the “brushed chrome” look of the ...

Pros: VERY comfortable, AWD, decent mileage Cons: Dealer sales and repair experience The Bottom Line: Detroit can design them great but can't build them to match.
SEE UPDATE AT END I have scores of cars since 1970 and without exception, they have been non-American made. In most cases, this has made me a happy camper. When our 95 Camry with 275K on it lost its air conditioning, we went shopping for something ...

Pros: Looks, driving experience Cons: fuel economy, interior The Bottom Line: Rent it before you buy it
I thought this vehicle was in the $30,000 price range when I started my test drive and I was livid about what a poor car it was for the price. After some research, I realized it’s in the really low $20,000’s with leather, traction control and sunroof. ...

Pros: comfort, space, ride Cons: Everything else. Very disappointing. The Bottom Line: I really wanted to like this car. Ford deserves to be doing better than they are, we took a chance on this company and they let us down.
Let me first say that purchasing this car was not my choice. I didn't wake up one day and say "I think I will go and buy a Ford, I am sure all their cars are great now and they don't make crap any more". We had to trade in a couple of cars, we had to ...

Pros: Standard equiptiment for the price. Ride, handling, form and function. Cons: Turn signal annoyance, slight wind noise and engine whine. The Bottom Line: If you're in the market for a roomy, comfortable, functional, luxury car-like ride.. you owe it to yourself to give this vehicle a "fair shake".
I recently accompanied my girlfriend while she was looking to buy a new car. She wanted a nice, classy, dependable, roomy, smooth ride without the luxury car price tag. We looked at many cars and came away most impressed with the Ford Five Hundred SE. ...

Pros: Huge passenger and trunk space, great balance of luxury, sport and business Cons: Buggy MP3/CD player, driver leg room The Bottom Line: I wanted a classy business car with lots of room. The price was right and I got what I needed.
I traded my F150 in for a more sensible automobile, one that was great for the kids, good on gas mileage, and would impress clients. I nailed it! I love the car, but it has had it's problems. The in-dash 6CD player plays CDs and MP3s. However, I ...

Pros: Good mileage. Incredible interior and trunk space. A great buy! Cons: Underpowered? Maybe not... Considering the times we live in. The Bottom Line: If you need a roomy car at a great price, test drive the 500.
The bulk of the reviews written for cars on this site are written by people who may have simply taken them for a test drive. The better reviews may be from the people who buy them and have to live with them. If you were to compare the reviews on this car ...

Pros: Everything is great! Comfort! Dependability! Good MPG! GO LOOK AT ONE! Cons: None! TEST DRIVE ONE TODAY! The Bottom Line: This is a great car that compares to a crossover/SUV. Good MPG!
Because of the high cost of gas prices we had been talking about trading in my wife Dodge Durango (9 mpg) for something with much better MPG. My wife really didnt want to get rid of her Durango since it had three row seating (dont ask me we only have two ...

Pros: Safety, Exterior style, traction control, comfort, interior space & trunk, 17 in wheels. Cons: Bland interior, installed a dash cover due to reflection, mediocre fuel consumption. The Bottom Line: The same platform as the Volvo S80 at about 1/2 the price. It looks like a large Passat, traction control is std., and it should have good resale value.
Aug 15, 2005 After driving it for a while can report that the fuel consumption on two 500km highway trips averaged out to be 8.8L/100Km or 27mpg. My regular city/highway driving varies so I will have to check the consumption a few more times, but for ...

Pros: I think the best part of this car is the comfort and handling. Cons: I have a noise in the right rear, haven't found the cause yet.
I love this car. I am short and I can finally see out of a car without sitting on a pillow.Ford hit a home run with the Ford Five Hundred.I have taken it on two road trips and of course, all around town.It is great!!!
