Pros: Premium feel, safety features, quick once boost is up Cons: Boost lag, numb steering, cramped rear seat The Bottom Line: I mildly recommend the S40 to compact shoppers who prioritize a premium feel and safety features, but not to those who prioritize driving enjoyment.
Last March I reviewed the new Volvo S40 in 2.4i and T5 forms. I didnt much care for those cars, but being able to shift for myself often has a favorable impact on my evaluation. Would it this time? I drove the recently introduced six-speed T5 to ...

I received my 2005 S40 T5 beginning of December, and I am still very impressed. Styling I get compliments regularly on the exterior and many more when someone sits down inside. The first thing people notice is the floating console. Everyone enjoys ...

Pros: Tight, comfortable with all the power a normal person will ever need. Cons: Manual crank recline on passenger seat. Storage space. The Bottom Line: Unless you're a performance junky, you won't beat this car for the price.
We bought the 2005 S40 2.4 through the overseas delivery program. I will first comment on the car. We picked the car up in Sweden and drove from there to the Arctic Circle in Norway, approximately 1,000 miles. We spent a couple of 6 hour days in ...

Pros: Quiet, power, handling, comfort, safety. Cons: Small back seat, turbo lag, slow shift in manual mode. The Bottom Line: This is a sport sedan and does it well. Buy it with that in mind and you will enjoy the ride.
I've been driving my S40 for about a year and finally decided to write a review. First off this is a fun car to drive. It may not have the solid quick steering some expect but it is responsive and with the AWD system really hugs the road. This car can ...

This car is simply great! Ok, maybe it didn't save my life, but it sure did make my commute a lot easier and less stressful. I also have the peace of mind that if I ever do get into an accident (knock on wood) I am surrounded by a very safe piece of ...

This has been one of the most wonderful vehicles I have ever owned. It has a great pickup and a wonderful feel. You can really feel the road as you drive instead of the power steering! The inside is ergonomically friendly and has great style. The factory warranty and service included when you buy it new is top notch. I am sold on Volvo for life!
