Pros: Seamless operation, economy, nimble handling, interior room Cons: Price; styling too normal? The Bottom Line: An excellent first effort by Ford. But like other hybrids the price cannot be economically justified.
The current gas prices have even an enthusiast such as myself thinking about hybrids. And especially about hybrid SUVs, as I moved to a new neighborhood earlier in the year where the streets are not plowed promptly. So I test drove two hybrid SUVs, the ...

Pros: Roomy , (finally) reliable , firm handling, decent price. Cons: Teeny gas tank , road noise , not a high Utility SUV The Bottom Line: Try it and see . Not the SUV to buy for serious off-roading, but its roomy, zippy and (finally) reliable.
The Top Line Ive been driving a 2001 Escape for the last five years and I love it. Of course, there are a few things about the vehicle that can drive you crazy more later. Last year I rented a 2005 and noticed a lot of ...

Pros: Styling, handling, beauty, practicality, feels right, fuel mileage. Cons: No place to put garage door opener. Get some velcro. The Bottom Line: I love this thing of beauty, function and design. The future is here!
Previously I owned a 2003 Escape that I bought new in 2003. As the warranty was shortly to end I decided to look around see what was available. I'm pretty much a confirmed Ford customer having bought about a dozen new ones and virtually all have been ...

Pros: Great mileage, V6 like performance, quiet comfortable ride Cons: Hybrid premium cost, low tech audio system! The Bottom Line: Simply the highest mileage 4wd out there, if you need to go in the snow, and bring your kid to hockey practice, and drive mostly in-town, this makes sense!
Well, it was new car time and my wife had only two requirements...it had to be 4WD and it had to be a wagon. And I'd refined this list down to the Subaru Outback LLbean. Our current stable was her Saab 900 4cyl and my Chevy Tahoe 8cyl. My intent was to ...

Pros: Great mileage, especially for a 4 wheel drive SUV. Cons: The driver may have to adjust driving habits to get the best mileage. The Bottom Line: This is a great car if you want the utility of a 4WD SUV without needing to drag a fuel tanker behind you.
I bought a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid 2 months ago. The main reason that I purchased it was to support the only US manufacturer of hybrid vehicles. I also recently bought a home, and I thought it would be nice to have an SUV that gets good mileage. ...

Pros: Decent mileage, Good Value Cons: Interior Noise, Stiff seats, No 4x4 manual controls. The Bottom Line: The 2006 Ford Escape is a reasonably good value. Look elsewhere if you want a comfortable, stylish or fun SUV, though.
I couldn't help but notice that the other reviews for the Ford Escape (2006) were largely gushing, with owners giving out lots of stars. That's why I am adding my two bits, as it were. The short version is this: The Ford Escape is good. It's not ...

Pros: Great gas mileage, stylish SUV, compact, tax breaks for hybrids Cons: A bit pricey, tight legroom, Hybrid has "different" feel The Bottom Line: If you love SUVs, this is the car for you. The gas mileage is great and I enjoy a compact car that's easy to maneuver and looks great, too.
Ford has done a great job incorporating the hybrid technology and the SUV styling. I bought my 2006 Escape last August because we needed to scale down our full-sized van for something more economical. I thoroughly love my Escape! The Hybrid ...

Pros: Quick and economical. Cons: Folding rear seats flat. The Bottom Line: I really wanted a small SUV with 5-speed. Not many around. Nice little SUV.
I have the base model 2006 Escape in Titanium Green. It's a 4-cylinder with a 5-speed, AWD. I get up to 29 mpg, on regular gas. Of course, average gas mileage is less, but still very good - I'd say in the mid-20s depending on driving conditions. The ...

3 years & 40k miles later

Pros: affordable, reliable, safe. Cons: Original tires were noisey.
We bought our XL small engine Escape 3 yrs. ago. We've not been back to the Dealer for any warranty work & the car runs perfect. We use it for a variety of basic errands & trips. We drive EZ, maintain tire pressure & beat the mileage estimates. Nothing fancy, won't win any races, but it does exactly what we want, is trouble free (so far) & comfortable. We plan to keep it for a few more years.

Pros: Nice drive and good mileage Cons: No DVD option and needs more seating
I absolutely love my Ford escape. It handles curbs very well and drives nicely. I have the ebony leather seats and they are very comfortable. The gas milage isn't all that great due to driving hilly roads, but it is not bad compared to other SUVs. It seats 5 people comfortably. I love that it tells you when to change your oil and fill up your gas tank. I couldn't ask for a more reliable truck.

The Limited Comes in 6 cylinder 4x4 too

Pros: roomy with nice fold down rear seats for larger cargo Cons: no 4x4 control - not for off road
For those of you who like a little more power look towards the six cylinder for a little more piazzas!
However; it lacks the feel of durability
UPDATE 02-02-07:
Took a road trip to Cheektowaga N.Y. last week! It was a challenge to get this little truck to spin out (I like playing in the parking lot snow)! Also; according to the Fuel Econ gauge - It got up to 19.2 MPG on the highway! My biggest complaint is the seats are a bit too firm - could stand to be a little softer - not much - just a bit!

Quality is Job 1?????

Pros: Styling, nice ride, sunroof, sound system quality Cons: Built cheaply-need to focus on quality
I do like this truck. It gets decent mileage (18-24 MPG), has a pretty smooth ride for a SUV and the Sun and Surf package is excellent. Its also quite roomy and is of decent size. I have had it through one Buffalo, NY winter and it handled the snow and ice just fine.
HOWEVER-the build quality is absolutely terrible. At 20k-brakes and rotors are shot. Also, the cheap Continental tires have cupped and need to be replaced. Obviously none of this under warranty so I will have to sink $7-800 into a vehicle that is year old and only has 20k on it.
I really wanted to buy a 4Runner but I felt guilty buying a foreign car as I just traded in a VW Passat for this. On the VW I had it for 45k and never had a problem with even replacing pads let alone the entire brakes!
Regretfully, I think this will be the last "American" car I will ever buy.
