Pros: Powerful, fast, good looking, affordable, forward controls Cons: Not a Big Twin ;>
2006 Harley-Davidson Sportster XL 1200 cc In 2006 the Sportster was going on 50 years old and still going strong. The first Harley Sportster was introduced in 1957 and it has been in continuous production since. It's ...
Pros: Great bang for the buck, 2 year unlimited mileage warranty. Dude, it’s a Harley! Cons: It ain’t cheap!
It is hard to imagine that just a few months ago I started on a long quest. It started with, Hon, I thinking about getting a bike. This was greeted with a flat Mmhmm. I was in! Either she didnt hear what I had said or she thought ...
Pros: Great looks, impressive sound, high build quality, comfortable ride, good handling, longevity, Cons: Poor lean angle, rubbish seat, underpowered when two up. Poor brakes.
I've put 8k on my sportster so feel a detailed review is now due. Overall I think this model offers the best value for money in its class. It's the best looking, the best sounding, and the best built. THE LOOKS I'll keep this simple by saying I ...
Pros: Styling, fit and finish, ergonomics, value in this class, dealer and aftermarket support, unique sound. Cons: The designer of the stock seat is evil. Change it. Now.
I am writing this for a '06 883 Low as Epinions does not have a separate category for the 883. Not too big of a deal as the bikes are essentially the same with the exception of the bore for the cylinders which are obviously larger on the 1200. I bought ...
Pros: Great Look! Lots of Chrome Cons: Stock Seat To Hard. No Fuel Gauge. Foot Pegs Should Be Moved Forward More.
This is truly a awesome bike. I own a 2006 Sportster Custom Low. It's a definite head turner. Tons of chrome and great look. Great price anyone can afford one!
Pros: It's a Harley! 50 mpg. It sounds better than some bigger bikes. Plenty of torque. Cons: Upgrade air cleaner ($50), aftermarket exhaust ($180), rejet carb ($15) for Harley sound & performance.
Such Character. The Chrome is rock hard and lots of it.
The paint is perfect two-tone. It runs strong and sounds like it can take on the world
Pros: Overall quality fit and finish is flawless, fuel mileage is 56mpg.Overall Very satisfied. Cons: The original seat left me numb in the legs. Mirrors too short.
This is my very first Harley Davidson motorcycle and the first Harley I have ever had a chance to ride. Been riding for 36 years.
I have been very pleased with the ride, quality, and fuel mileage so far. And to all those people talking smack, I have had no, I repeat, absolutely no oil leaks what so ever! ( And yes there is oil in the tank ). With all the accessories that are available, you would be hard pressed not to have a bike you are completely satisfied with.
Modifications
Sundowner Seat
Sissy Bar
Nostalgic grips
Tank Bra
Mirror extensions
Detachable Windscreen
Pros
Overall quality fit and finish is flawless, fuel mileage is 56mpg, stability and handling very good, vibration isolated engine smooth and non fatiguing, the availability of more accessories and parts than I know what to do with. The Harley Davidson dealership is very clean and professional.
Cons
The original seat left me numb in the legs, rear shocks bottom out easily, original mirrors a little too short to see behind you completely. And that's about all I can find.
Pros: this is a fast, nimble, reliable bike with classic looks, lots of power. Cons: the front end is too light, the stock pipes sound like a sewing machine.
I have had my 06` 1200c for 6 months. I have thus far enjoyed the ride. So much in fact that It is now my primary vehicle. Out of the box this is a great bike. I did make a few mods. For starters I added some loud pipes and just for looks A hyper charger and drag bar.
Off the line this bike can accelerate like a sport bike and can get you up to hwy speed with plenty of power to spare. I find that this bike likes to cruise at around 70-75mph that seems to be a fuel efficient speed as-well.
The 1200c comes dripping with chrome and a slue of other features that make this bike a head turner. Most of all it is a comfortable reliable bike and I would recommend it to just about anyone
