by ora-cle

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Engine, interior space and utility are outstanding.
Cons: Lack of interior storage bins
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended, the swiss army knife of Sports Utility Vehicles.

We have owned our Element for just under two months (Canadian Y package- AWD, sunroof, 5 speed), but in that time completed over 6000 km of driving on vacation to the West Coast in every kind of terrain (mountains and prairie). Given extensive driving ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Versatility, Storage, 4wd, Rubber floor, Reliability
Cons: Gas milage, max load weight, wind noise
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this SUV for its combination of reliability and versatility. It is also fun to drive.

I have owned the 2006 Honda Element LX 4wd for approx 2 1/2 years and driven 40k miles. Overall, I am very happy with the vehicle and glad I made the purchase. The Element has been very handy and very versatile, which is what you would expect based on ...

2005 Element - Fun/Safe Unique

by helement
Feb 12 '06 - Updated Feb 16 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: - Quality - Reliability - MPG & Emissions
Cons: - Door Use next to parked cars - Manual Windows in rear
The Bottom Line: Though not a "macho" SUV it's better than them in every way as you are safe driving it and so is everyone around you.

Research - Was looking to replace a mazda protege5 wagon that was having several issues even though it was still under warranty (25k miles). I needed something reliable but flexible to haul items but not be wasteful in emissions or gas guzzling for ...

Great utilitarian vehicle at a good price.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Price, Cargo (space, loading/unloading), seat configuration, easy to clean.
Cons: passengers getting in/out of the back seat, back seat only has room for two
The Bottom Line: If you want something useful and economical, go get one. If you want a glamorous car to impress your friends with, get something else.

My friend and I both bought new cars last year. We both do a lot of mountain bike riding and snow-boarding, but I also needed a work rig for hauling around tools and big dirty parts. He got an Xterra and I payed several thousand less for an Element ...

It is what it is...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: cool design, lots of storage when you clap the seats up,good gas milage, compact but roomy,
Cons: only 4 seats, uncomfortable back seats, hard to get in and out of the back-seats,not child friendly,
The Bottom Line: Great car for young people that need to transport stuff like amps etc - not good for a family or older people.

From the very first day I got this baby I called it 'Boxy'. And Boxy did it's duties. We used it many times to move our band gear around or transport other goods without having to rent a van. I loved that you were able to easily clap the back-seats up ...

2006 Honda Element

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: It's a Honda engine and drive train.
Cons: Wiper speed control, only 1 power door lock control.
We purchased the Y package (Canada). Everything so far is mechanically fine. My gripe is the single speed intermittent wipers, single drivers side only power door lock and lastly, I upgraded to the console style arm rest to get rid of the skinny arm rests that came with it, however it covers up the drink holders. We really like the spaciousness of the interior and have removed the seats to take full advantage of the available cargo space.

Great car, but poor gas mileage, low engine power

Pros: Spacious, sturdy, comfortable, well thought out.
Cons: Poor mileage, mediocre engine power.
I really like the configuration of this car. I bought my 06 new in Dec 05. It averages 18 MPG. If Honda came out with a hybrid Element, I'll buy it! The engine feels like it's throttled way down. It should have more power. My 91 Accord with 350K miles has more pep. Online forums are full of mileage complaints.

2006 Element EX-P - a lot of fun at a great price
by eireann74

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Awesome, fun, cute, sporty, and versatile
Cons: Kind of loud and sometimes a gas guzzler
We got our 2006 Element - an EX-P (meaning all painted) in maroon that is 4x4 - in December 2005 and fell in love with it instantly. The car drives really well, is comfortable and roomy as well. The seat are comfy, though the armrests leave a little to be desired. They just arent right. The only major downer is the noise, which isn't actually so bad if you get carpets (not the Honda kind; they dont even match0). We got a set of carpets from South Coast Accessories, and it matched perfectly (we got grey.) The current gas situation for all of us, well, stinks, and this car gets about 26-28 a gallon which isn't so bad for an SUV. We bought this car via "e-mail blast", and waited for the best offer. No haggling, no nonsense really. We got XM stereo free for 3 months, then reinstated our subscription for the $77 deal...good move, lots of choices. A lot of people have asked me my opinions of my car, and some literally look in it and stare (odd, yes) We love it, and for 20 grand you can't beat it.

Honda Element

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: fuel efficient, comfy, cool-looking, good handling
Cons: only seats 4, slippery floor when there is no floor matt
The Honda Element is a cool, small, compact CUV. A CUV is a crossover utility vehicle. That means it is like an SUV but has good gas mileage and some characteristics like a sedan. The Element has some features from the Civic, a compact Honda sedan. It's main competitor is the Toyota FJ Cruiser, that has more horsepower and is stronger, but the Element has much better gas mileage. It's a good car for cross-country, or just going to the supermarket. I don't have an Element yet, but I'm gonna buy one. I suggest you to buy one too. Great family car, you'll really like it.
