Pros: Interior ambiance in black, room, much improved handling, warranty, low price Cons: Dated undistinctive exterior, V6 lacks power of others, slippery wheel The Bottom Line: If a classy, roomy interior is high on your list of priorities, the Optima is well worth a look.
Back in the summer of 2002 I rented a Kia Optima and found it a roomy, smooth-riding car with a rough engine and soggy handling. In other words, perfectly good for a rental, but nothing I'd want to own. Kia recently introduced a totally redesigned ...

Pros: Competent, solid feeling mid-size sedan Cons: Average, dispassionate car. Some reliability concerns. Not as cheap as they used to be. The Bottom Line: Is the redesigned Kia Optima a car that Toyota or Honda should really WORRY about?? Let's drive it and see...
A lot of ink has been spilled in the automotive press over Kia's mid-year redesign of their mid-size Optima. The comparisons to Toyota and Honda are both obvious and inevitable. In terms of sizing, features, and performance, Kia's got a vehicle that does ...

Pros: Ride, handling, included options, safety features, warranty. Cons: Driver seat could go back a bit further. Dash Materials. The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a reasonably comfortable, inexpensive sedan with lots of standard features. This car is worth looking at.
I recently purchased the new 2006.5 Kia Optima LX. In making my decision pricing and included options, as well as gas mileage were the most important factors. The Optima definitely met and exceeded my first two requirements. I would like to talk ...

Pros: Safety and value. Cons: 17" wheels/tires = stiff ride & road noise. V6 not competitive in class. The Bottom Line: As good as any. Most bang for the buying dollar. Drive one.
Take advantage of rebates and warranty.
The new Optima is a very nice car. The fit and finish are as good as Toyota or Honda. The interior is well laid out and materials are excellent. My EX has the Appearance Package which comes with 17" wheels. The reason for bringing this up is due to the ...

Pros: Great warranty; cheap Cons: dodgy styling
Surprising quality: you can tell things have been thought out well, ala Honda/Toyota, and the overall feel is not "cheap" as one might expect from Kia. You can't beat the warranty, which totally offsets any worry...
It would appear that they're basically compying Honda and Toyota design elements, but that's ok if they get it right. It seems like they have.

More like Camry and not Accord

Pros: Over 33mpg and Very Quiet! Luxury Feel! sound insulation, Fit and finish betters toyotas Cons: Not as responsive as an accord. clutch feel is a bit numbing
I have a 5sp manual 2006.5 Kia Optima. It is a supurb car that should compete well with Camrys and Accords. Engine, Road, wind, noise have been greatly reduced to a point I sometimes stall out with the clutch because I can not hear the engine. (once a month :)) This car gets awesome gas mileage. I average about 33 mpg with 70% hwy and 30% city. That is better than my old civic automatic.
The performance is quite impressive for a 4 banger. I clocked with my friend's stop watch from 0 to 60mph at 8.3 seconds. That is quite good considering this is a mid-size car. So far I have over 10K and not a single problem.

They're great, if you like problems

Pros: Looks nice, great stalling features, seats are comfortable for your wait for tow truck. Cons: Accelerator hesitates, brakes spongy, unexplained electrical events
I bought mine in Feb '07, and after just a couple months, the accelerator would cut out randomly. Took 5 visits to the shop before they could even diagnose it. I'm trying to work with Kia to repurchase this lemon, but they don't seem to care that I can't depend on the car to accelerate when I need to. KIA = Krap Imported to America, so don't buy one. Even if it works most of the time, when you have a problem and Kia needs to help, they'll only do what they really have to, and they'll even still drag their feet at that.
http://optimaproblem.blogspot.com to see the huge ordeal I've had to endure with Kia.
