Pros: Top notch interior, comfortable and quiet ride, Lexus reliability Cons: Numb steering, underpowered The Bottom Line: A very comfortable, competent sedan but I wouldn't go so far as to put the word "sport" in its description.
My Search: Before I get to the actual review, I just want to give some context as to what kind of car I am looking for in terms of needs and preferences. This was you'll have a better basis for how my opinion may or may not fit with your own. ...

Pros: Zippy, super quiet, firm handling, Mark Levinson, welcoming lights on keyless entry Cons: Interior lighting is dim, no service interval warning The Bottom Line: Great Buy for serious audiophiles and driving enthusiasts who want quiet, non-flagrant luxury that lasts.
The sporty new GS 300, with its low, sleek lines and very hi-tech systems, is Japanese artistry and craftsmanship on wheels. While significantly smaller than the LS400, it's just right for city driving and cramped car parks. Keyless entry is taken to new ...

Pros: Fast, handles well, comfy, sporty. Cons: Serious headlight problems, cramped back seat. The Bottom Line: I loved this car, but drive alot out in the boondocks where there are few streetlights, and don't want to turn on brights to see.
I loved driving this car, it's sporty, fast, sexy, etc... but decided not to buy it based on other reviews I read on other websites concerning the headlights. Apparently there's this weird problem with the headlight not illuminating enough when on ...

a nice luxury/sport sedan

Pros: Super smooth with great style and luxury Cons: rain sensing windshield wipers, run flat tires firmer ride
Having owned a 2001 GS 300 before I can compare the two and tell you what I feel are improvements with this new model. I loved my old Lexus, the new one has a firmer ride that I don't like as much. Yes the handling is better but I don't like to feel bumps at all. My car came with the optional run flat tires so that could be another reason for the firmer ride. But it is always super smooth and responsive. One thing the older model had that I miss on this one was a lap cooling duct on the AC. It was under the steering wheel and was great on hot days blowing air on your legs. I also dont like the optional rain sensing windshield wipers. They have a mind of their own. Give me intermitent wipers anyday!! I do love the style , mainly the side profile stance. It reminds me of the new Mercedes CLS. But having owned this car for 6 months now, it is really a great car to drive and own.

Dangerous headlight problems!

Pros: The only "pro" is the quality of service I typically receive at Lexus of Melbourne. Cons: This will likely be the family's last Lexus. Too many expensive "little things."
I guess I am a little relieved to see another headlight challenge pop up here. A month ago the low-beam on the right side of my 2006 GS apparently burned out, at great expense. I had it replaced for over four-hundred dollars. Okay, those things happen. HOWEVER, now two weeks later the driver's side headlamp "burned out," but before I had it replaced, it came back on!
Now the lowbeams on both headlights "burn out" on a daily basis, alternating between the right and left lamps. Sometimes I can turn the lights on and off, and the situation will correct itself, but only temporarily. The worst case scenario happened this morning at about five-thirty, while driving on a very busy Interstate 95 in Florida, BOTH low beams went out simultaneously, leaving me to drive with only the running lights to illuminate the Interstate!
I am curious as to other owners having this experience. I am on the way to the dealer, as we speak.

Pros: Looks, Stereo, luxury features, Keyless entry, Dashboard. Cons: Temporary spare tire, Smallish trunk.
April 2006...update. I have had my new GS 300 for a year now and have had no problems at all. It starts up every time and is eager to hit the road. I don't see many on the road in my area, but I think the car is great.
---
This is my 3rd Lexus and my favorite. Since I saw it at a local auto show, I knew I had to have it. The build materials seem to be first rate. The cars has plenty of power and luxury appointments. The Stereo, even without the upgraded "Mark Levinson" system, sounds fantastic. I really like the cooled seats, which come in handy in my Florida climate. My wife thinks the interior is a little cramped, but I do not agree. I enjoy the Keyless entry, that uses a small key fob with a transmitter. The seating is snug but comfortable. I have only had the car for a few months, and am learning more about its features every day.

Pros: Full featured; large display. Cons: Incorrect and inaccurate mapping and directions.
The Navigation System on the 2006 Lexus GS300 is defective and Lexus has no plans to remedy. It can be UNSAFE in certain conditions - it will tell you that the next turn is on the Left when it in fact is on the Right.
Multiple, specific deficiencies have been documented to Lexus in writing. Their answer is "within specifications". When asked for the specifications, they decline to provide.
