Pros: $10,000 gas savings (over 10years), ride, quietness, roomy, fast, well made, durability. Cons: Rear visibility, vague steering, increased fuel use from heater and A/C. The Bottom Line: Not flashy for impulse buyers. It's roomy, comfy, speedy, quality. Gets high miles per gallon, low soldiers per gallon. Psychology and politics aside, it's a great mid size car.
Surprisingly Excellent I put 5,000 miles on this car in the first 2 weeks. I filled up only 8 times while driving 65 MPH all over Arizona, Nevada and California through mountains and mostly on freeways. This car costs nothing to own and is a nice ...

Pros: Performs as advertised, is Toyota quality, many standard features, completely ingenious, saves money Cons: A Corolla is cheaper, requires slight skill to get 60mpg The Bottom Line: Today's hybrids have few drawbacks. With rising gas costs, can you afford not to own one?
The dealer didn't give us much of a discount on our 2006, Seaside Blue, tech package Prius. He didn't have to. The demand for the Prius right now is so unholy that the car we looked at on December 23, 2005, a silver '05 Prius, was gone when we checked ...

Pros: A great car. Cons: The price is kind of high. The battery to the car is very expensive. The Bottom Line: This car I would recommend. Toyota makes a great product and the Prius is one of them. Toyota products have never let me down.
I bought my 2006 Toyota Prius used. The car had 19,000 miles on it when I bought it. I would have to say this is one of the best cars I have owned except for my Toyota Scion. When I can get the very best value on the road, I know I ...

Pros: Great quality and fuel economy and a fun, practical car to drive. Cons: Spendier than non-hybrids, unknown long-term maintenance issues. The Bottom Line: The Prius is an outstanding value across the board in terms of quality and performance. It is a pleasure to drive and a pleasure to pass gas stations.
The 2006 Prius is the latest in the continuing development of Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive system. This technology is being applied in the Highlander and two Lexus models, all of which are designed for performance with economy whereas the Prius is ...

Pros: Eco friendly, good crash scores, back-up camera, smart key, quiet and cushy ride Cons: sedate handling, seats could be better, batteries take up some trunk space. The Bottom Line: A very good car with some trade-offs, although the positives outweigh the negatives.
I purchased my Prius in January '06. I have been very happy with my car and would give it an overall grade of B+. Advantages: 1. It is very eco-friendly. It gets great gas mileage--I average about 50 mpg during the summer and 53 mpg during the ...

Pros: Gas mileage, Smart Key, technology, hatchback, tax credit, resale value Cons: Tax credit bummer, Handling, ride, poor mileage on short trips, acceleration The Bottom Line: Tax credit. Gas mileage. Resale value. Just buy one.
Update 5/2007 If you are getting a hybrid for the tax break, beware. Although we should have received $3150, due to other tax credits, we only got about $1600. I have found that people with kids or education credits usually do not get the ...

Pros: MPG! Quirky, but in a good way. Cons: Poor seats, Toyota nav system. The Bottom Line: Even with small to moderate attention to the car, you will achieve impressive fuel economy. And... it's not a compromise.
Well, I have nearly 1500 miles and six weeks on my 2006 Prius, so I finally feel qualified to write a review. I've leaned towards performance for quite a number of years. Perhaps that was in reaction to my first car (a used '81 Olds Cutlass Supreme ...

Pros: Second best gas mileage on the market, but far more practical than the Insight. Cons: Price adds up quick. Toyota love to nickle and dime you to death. Availability limited. The Bottom Line: One of the best all-around cars on the market today.
I got pulled into the buying process for my sister's new Prius. I thought she was nuts. I was wrong. I was very impressed. I have driven a V6 Accord with everything on it for the last 6 years, and I didn't think highly of hybrids, until this car. ...

Cons: Styling.High acceleration engine noise.Seat fabric. No off button on traction control.Seating position. The Bottom Line: I would buy this car again, we are very happy with it and now drive alot more since we don't have to spend too much on gas.
I have 16,000 miles on my 06 Prius, and love it. I almost bought a Honda Civic Hybrid, but after a 2 months of research, decided to get the Prius. I will explain some differences and why I chose the Prius. The technical part will come later. ...

Pros: Impressive gadget
Environmental statement Cons: Expensive The Bottom Line: I like Prius, but it's not for everyone. Read carefully about it before you buy it!
We've all ready how spacious it is, and how good it is for the environment, etc. But here's an opinion of someone who's owned one and enjoys driving a car. (My other choice was Mini Cooper-S). What other 'non-prius' owners say: I get comments both ...

Pros: Unbelievable mileage
Lotsa interior room
Cool dash display screen
Cons: Too firm seating
Obstructed rear view
Rearview mirror set too low The Bottom Line: Buy one of these and help stop global warming, war, and the proliferation of oil executives.
Last year my husband called me and said "I've ordered a Prius". I'm a tree hugger, but his motivation is to "stick it to" the oil companies. It took 5 months to arrive and then a. long. time. at the dealership to get the instructional speech and some ...

Pros: Surprisingly fast. Reliable. Best fuel economy option out there. Gadgets. Rear-leg room. Cons: Bland. No "fun" factor. Smallish storage. Narrow back seat. The Bottom Line: This is the best option for a mass produced car for a young family with a combination of space, quality and economy. But no soul.
We traded a Mini for this and it has been good. Our mileage has been roughly 47 mpg with a high of about 56 on a tank and a low of about 42. The effect of that is that we don't care what gas prices are, which is nice. The first 5 minutes of any ...

Pros: Gas mileage, interior, Toyota reliability Cons: Lack of sex appeal, definitely not a luxury car The Bottom Line: Fun, novel and environmentally friendly, but I can't justify the purchase by gas mileage alone. I just wanted one.
I have only put 100 miles on my 2006 Prius so far and have achieved 45 MPG. This is twice what I've gotten with any other car I've owned and better than my 1100cc motorcycle, which achieves approximately 42 MPG. So far I'm very pleased with the Prius. ...

Pros: Gas Mileage!!! Runs smoothly and quietly. Lots of great little options. Cons: Less mpg when first starting out, and in cold weather. The Bottom Line: Everyone should buy this car. It gets great gas mileage, has very low emissions and is a great all around car.
MILEAGE We bought our car 4 months ago and absolutely love it. It has gotten the gas mileage it claimed it would but it took us a few weeks to learn how to drive it to obtain that. It doesn't do quite as well in cold weather (from MN) as it ...

Pros: It hasen't blown up or died on freeway yet. Cons: Loud. Poor service. Shoddy parts. Not close to advertised MPG - even changing driving style The Bottom Line: Don't buy it for the 60/50 MPG. Too much work to get close to 40MPG city. FYI, the battery can do more than it is now.
Update: The buzz has worn off. I have not had a small car in years and it is fun to drive in the city bit a gas hog at 32 -38.5MPG still. How long is this so-called "break-in period" supposed to last? What a piece of junk. The JBL speakers are always ...
