2007 BMW X3

Pros: Great handling, looks, comfort, fuel mileage, & owner satisfaction.
Cons: Sensitive brakes & gas pedal.

BMW has hit the nail on the head again! Our 2007 X3 is a pure pleasure to own and drive. It meets or exceeds all the expectations we had when we ordered it from the factory in September of 06! The handling & acceleration are superb, the fuel mileage is great at 22mpg city & 26mpg highway, the comfort level is outstanding, the safety features are unparalleled, and the look is stunning! We would suggest you get the Nevada Leather Comfort Seats, the Servotronic Steering, the Heated Steering Wheel, the 18" Alloy Wheels, the Heated Front Seats, the Xenon Headlights, and the Premium Sound System. We would not suggest the Sport Package as it makes the ride harsher than most people will enjoy.

Pros: Handling on turns, Heated seats, heated steering wheel, panoramic roof.
Cons: Unpredictable automatic transmission. Does not accelerate on rolling stops, upward turns, or in cold weather.

This was to be my first among many BMW's. It is my last. The transmission is so unpredictable it makes the vehicle dangerous. The shifting in "D" (normal) mode will hesitate between 2-3 gear. This makes it very dangerous when merging into traffic as well as the euro style roundabouts, since the vehicle starts off in 2'nd to conserve gas. The "SD" mode (sports drive) clunks so hard between shifts you many think you have been bumped by a vehicle. There are many things that make this vehicle great, but the automatic transmission is so dangerous in its reaction timing that I feel guilty putting my family in it. Almost like playing Russian Roulette with my family's life. If you must buy this vehicle don't buy one built in 07 and test drive it for a weekend.

After driving about 10 different cars (Fall 2006) the BMW X3si stood head and shoulders above the Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Mazda, Hyundai, medium and small SUVs. The overall technology, performance, driving enjoyment, and design won us over. In addition the BMW is the only one that felt it was designed with an American body size in mind. It also has the nicest interior, without acres of faux metal to look ugly in 2 years.

My wife needed a new car that could haul boxes and probably a chair. It had to be very safe, all weather, and fun to drive, and would replace a VW GTi.

The 2007 X3 really fit our wants and needs. Check it out if you are in the market for this type of car.
